Strip clubs can harbor and cover for prostitution. Strip clubs and topless bars are getting busted all the time for sex for sale. Come on, we all know it.

Organized crime is behind the clubs that are the worst offendering clubs that offer "private dances."

If ljlong could prove it, he could do something that the police and FBI have been trying to do for decades. LARGE Clubs and Strip Joints historically have mob ties... this may or may not be true in this case, but I'm with him and leaning towards the former.

Anyhow, its not going to be close to me. But if it was within a mile of my house, I would be fighting it. These kinds of places attract the wrong kinds of people.

i think he is a she, joey, but i agree with your point that the correlation between strip clubs and AIDS (or what have you) is not a good one.

i don't however agree that they bring the wrong kinds of people. low-end seedy venues like the forum on market street and places painted purple off of state highways are one thing, but places like delilah's and a vegas-style club -- one that sits in the middle of nowhere under the shadow of the walt whitman bridge -- are just gentlemen's clubs. there might be a little funny business, but nothing that's anything to get riled up about.

As was mentioned.... a number of current strip joints are owned by ex-cops. Makes them almost untouchable by the city. Almost worse than mob ownership. They're letting Trump build here. The Penn's landing deal was so corrupt and that had nothing to do with the mob. Even Commerce execs are corrupt. Anything in this city is greased by the lub of money.

I just want a nice clean strip joint that isn't Wizzards or that pit Daydreams. It really will help tourism...honest. A mobster from Vegas is at least qualified to run a strip joint.

Seriously, talk to the cops about the issues with the local strip clubs in their districts. They'll tell you if they find girls working there who have prostitution arrests. The truth is not pretty.
