i agree, el. for the love of god, stop with the AIDS nonsense. that has nothing to do with a strip joint, and a classy one under the public microscope at that. go carry a banner that says "you'll get AIDS from those girls" outside delilah's and see how long you'll last.
even kama sutra had standards for its paying members, and as many have attested, they were good citizens. what goes on behind private closed doors shouldn't be of concern to the public. let's see some proof that just one person acquired AIDS from activity at kama sutra.

Strip clubs can harbor and cover for prostitution. Strip clubs and topless bars are getting busted all the time for sex for sale. Come on, we all know it.
Organized crime is behind the clubs that are the worst offendering clubs that offer "private dances." Sorry to burst your bubble. |

i think he is a she, joey, but i agree with your point that the correlation between strip clubs and AIDS (or what have you) is not a good one.
i don't however agree that they bring the wrong kinds of people. low-end seedy venues like the forum on market street and places painted purple off of state highways are one thing, but places like delilah's and a vegas-style club -- one that sits in the middle of nowhere under the shadow of the walt whitman bridge -- are just gentlemen's clubs. there might be a little funny business, but nothing that's anything to get riled up about.

Not according to Tom Ferrick, who revealed in a recent piece that Judge Palumbo wanted to sell out to a guy whose "Pure Gold" strip clubs sold more than a look:
"Famous name" "Not that Palumbo is likely to lose. He's first on the ballot. He has a well-known name. But why take the risk, what with media jackals poised to write about the latest doings over the club? That would be the attempt by DeMone to turn over Signatures to a new owner, a guy named Michael Rose. East of Broad is fighting the transfer of the liquor license from DeMone's Xtra Inc. to Rose's organization. Until recently, Rose was affiliated with a group called Pure Gold, which operates 11 adult cabarets in five states. East of Broad looked into Pure Gold operations and found that the group wasn't very, um, pure. There were allegations of drug sales and prostitution in some of its clubs; complaints about liquor violations in others; officials moving to shut down at least one of the clubs." from www.phillynews.com Inquirer coverage |

I just want a nice clean strip joint that isn't Wizzards or that pit Daydreams. It really will help tourism...honest. A mobster from Vegas is at least qualified to run a strip joint.

lj, you need to get out more.
Of course there is sex for sale at some strip joints, but its on the side. The overwhelming majority of stripclub patrons are getting lapdances, and thats all.You can buy coke any any high end club in Philly. Should all clubs be shut down now? |

You boys are obviously not the problem children that make strip clubs the STD hotspots in a city.
But I googled "strip club" one phrase, and "prostitution" and "philadelphia" so I could cut and paste the worst examples. But I got 35,000 hits. Not 350. Not 3500. Add one more zero. Good thing I have DSL. Seriously, talk to the cops about the issues with the local strip clubs in their districts. They'll tell you if they find girls working there who have prostitution arrests. The truth is not pretty. Men can be suckers for the fantasy that starts at puberty and lives between their mattress and boxspring. Am I right? False eyelashes, hair pieces, silicone, body stockings cover up the arrest records, the anti-virals, antibiotics, the drug rehab. Google does not lie. I know people make up their minds and don't let any other thought intrude. But lies kill. |
