Default Kitchen Renovation

Hello, all:

I'm in the planning stages of a major kitchen renovation. I've been to Home Depot, a fancy place on the main line, and Donatucci's on Washington Ave. I'm leaning toward Donatucci's because it seems to have the right blend for me in terms of service, product, and price. Has anyone dealt directly with them? If so, I'd appreciate hearing about your experiences.

Thanks

Default Donatucci

Donatucci is WAY over priced. Also of note that they kept a 500$ deposit of mine after I cancelled an order for a new tub. I was a little pissed about that.

Can you be a bit more specific about what you mean by "way overpriced?" As compared to who, for example?

You should also check A & P Kitchens on E. Passyunk Ave below Tasker, or E & P Kitchens on Washington Ave, near 20th, I believe. These will give you good numbers for a comparison. I know two people who used A & P and are very happy with the outcome.

I used A & P for my bathroom. It took them a while to get around to it, but they did a great job.

Well I was looking into using them to re-do my bathroom, they came back with an estimate of about 10,000$. Granted I had picked out some fairly nice appliances... but still man, that was just silly. 10k for a bathroom?

I have a tiny bathroom and I spent $8k. However, it was gutted down to the studs. That price doesn't seem that outrageous.

Fortunately, I work for a home improvement company which has taught me how to become a smart consumer. I recently renovated my kitchen and purchased my cabinets and appliances from Lowes (my co-workers installed the kitchen at a fraction of the cost). My recommendation is to go with a company with a good reputation and guarantees/warranties. Our company is small and doesn't have a great reputation for timely installations or follow up. There's a chance if a customer called a few years from now to have punch items (problems) taken care of we may not go back out or warranty items/work after 2-3 years. Although local/smaller privately owned companies can offer custom made products and lower prices you have to think long term. (I also installed Home Depot windows and over the past few years if a window's seal broke, I just call them up, tell them which window needs replacing and then they ship it to me - small companies do not do this.) A kitchen installation can run from about $8,000 to $12,000 depending on size and appliances, etc. Good luck!
