i'm somewhat new to south philly and brand new to phillyblog. i have yet to get the internet hooked up in my house, but i have wireless capabilities. are there any coffee shops, bars, internet cafes in the area that are legitimate 'hot spots' for wireless users? i live on the 1800 block of mole st. it is near st. agnes hospital. thanks for any info.

I noticed that nobody had responded yet to your post... I'm just replying to let you know that I'm also wondering about wireless. Unlike center city, there aren't a ton of coffee shops or other places down here in sp that might usually offer wireless, and I'm not sure about any other spots.

I was at Benna's Cafe recently and I saw someone working on a laptop, though - can anyone out there confirm/deny whether they offer wireless?

i live in the same area as ecphilE. . . i think. near st agnes, right? anyway. . . i often go to this neat little bar, the south philly taproom during the day. while i'm in there i have sometimes seen people using computers. i asked a bartender and it turns out they have wireless internet available for free. so . . . i have been going there on occasion to use the internet on my lab top. i think there is a laundary mat around 10th and tasker that also offers wireless internet. i've never used it there but it is a nice little place to do yr laundry at the least.

thanks for all the info. i need to check out that laundry mat. besides internet i have yet to get a washer and dryer so i could kill two birds with one stone. i live right near the tap room. i often go in at night but i've never seen anyone using a computer. i'll have to pop in during the day and try it out.
