It has nothing to do with gangs. Its just the current fashion trend. Also its hard to ID people when they all fit the same rough description.

ps: that white tee song is a riot. I played that at a party this year, and the whole crowd was loving it. No doubt, a funny song

If they all wear the same thing (i.e. a white T-Shirt and jeans), it makes them far less likely to be identified by the police after committing a crime. All the victim sees is a guy in a white T-shirt and jeans--and there's 20 of them on one block. There no way the cops can single one out.

That's pretty much the idea, and that's why gangs started wearing them. It seems to have caught on with a bigger population, but about 3 years ago in Trenton, it was just the gang members for the most part. They've switched from being obvious and wearing the gang colors, to inconspicuous in their white tee shirts.

It's sad, but it's actually some funny ****, since they don't where the colors anymore, it's apparently all about throwing signs, or hand signals, to let other people know you're in a gang. There are also dances that are supposed to have specific meanings, like disrespecting other gangs or members. It’s basically a frat.

Now in Trenton you see a lot of girls in gang colored major league baseball hats hanging out with boys in long white tee shirts throwing hand signs.

Yeah, but they're only white collar criminals.

I did a commercial with Allen Iverson and he through a fit at the wardrobe department cause they only had XXL shirts and not XXXL. That skinny lil $h!t.

Hehe... I always call it the uniform too... just cracks me up. I know so much I wear is probably amusing to some others, but I just don't get why they are wearing a uniform. Eh, I guess if that's what they want...

It's not style, it's a work uniform. I overheard one area drug dealer instruct his new recruits on how he would kick their asses if they were on their assigned spots in anything but jeans and a big white T, triple xtra large. He told them where to go to buy the cheapest ones, and said he would take no excuses for not being in one.

It's very interesting what you will hear with your windows open.

It points to the larger issue here of where the boundary should be for expectations in the black community, and how people can speak up for what is right. Not mimicking drug runners and dealers should be more widely promoted in the community as a whole.
