I remember you bringing this up before. I agree it isn't a comfortable feeling walking to the subway in the morning. There are a couple of dead end streets that shoot off the block between 12th and 13th along federal. Another problem is that the old Rosa factory in vacant and the the auto place and bank along broad both have large open blacktop. It gives you a sense of abandonment. The good news is that a developer has bought the Rosa factory and will be putting 17 townhouses there. This should improve activity along the stretch and put eyes on the street.

I obviously know this. Homeboy was running for his life, and holding something in his waitline very tight. Its possible he could have been running in circles....dunno.

This particular time something must have gone wrong and a gun battle irrupted right ther in the street. So far it is thought that at least 9 shots were fire with one of the dealers being shot. He was picked up at the hospital while attempting to receive treatment for his wound. There will be a portion of the next PSCA meeting dedicated to this issue. My neighbor said several complaints have been filed but nothing has come of it. I would encourage everyone in the neighborhood to come out to the meeting. |

I know I'm late jumping in here, but I live at 9th & Tasker. My husband and I felt comfortable enough to buy here. We came from a cushy rental in WashWest and we feel fine down here. 1601 cafe or not.
Call me an idealist, but I think it takes a group of like-minded people who see potential in an area, and what could be, to move into said area and move forward with that. Sweep the sidewalk in front of your house. Plant flowers in flower boxes. Say hello to your neighbor. lnr103, would you mind PM'ing me and giving me the exact address? I'd be able to tell you a little more about the specific property. FYI we're a couple in our 20s. Thanks. |
