The Bella Vista Town Watch's zoning committee has already approved it based on their meetings with the developer. They will show up at the hearing and say they are not opposed. An individual going up there to protest will be ignored. The ZBA only gives deference to the town watch in Bella Vista.

Its too late. Too bad, so sad.

But, I'll bet they have garages as their first floor - and a solid door leading to the upstairs. Everyone loses.

BTW, interesting piece in yesterday's City Paper about the President of QVNA and his fight to stop the garage explosion in QV.

Quote:
Garage Invasion

In Queen Village, "with" and "without" has a whole new meaning.

by Bruce Schimmel

"This will be a goner, that will be a goner," says David O'Donnell, as we wander the sidewalks of his Queen Village neighborhood. O'Donnell is pointing at house after house in the process of renovation, and almost every one will have a garage. As these garages multiply, the neighborhood O'Donnell has lived in for 25 years is becoming further divided. It's the "with" versus the "without." And as each new garage appears and another parking space disappears, those without must circle a little longer to find a place to park.

But for O'Donnell, president of the Queen Village Neighbors Association, the invasion of garages brings much more than inconvenience. "When you punch out the first floor, it takes the life out of a street," he says. As the first floor of renovated houses remove street-level windows and take out their stoops, those inside tend to be isolated from the street — and the neighborhood as a whole becomes less secure.

I agree - i love the warmer weather when neighbors sit out on their stoops and talk about the news of the day. Makes you feel like part of a community and puts you much more in touch with your surroundings and the people you live near.

A garage causes a person to drive in, park, and enter their house from inside the garage. Never any need to even expose yourself to anyone else on your block. Very isolating, if you ask me.

I don't know about you - but I very rarely expose myself to people on my block. Sometimes from my window to the cute girls that walk by, but again, very rarely... oh. Wait. Nevermind. You meant something else entirely. I knew that. Yeah. I agree with what he said. Yup.

A mooning every once in a while is probably not out of the question?

This is a different subject, but there was a Zoning notice on the 1300 Block of South St where the big parking lot is now. It had said something like six or eight story bldg being built there. That would definitely affect the sun on that section of South which would affect the community garden across the street. The sign was up a week ago, but now the sign is gone. The post (2 X 4) is still there.

Please tell me your not really concerned about the community garden if a 6 story building is built on South?? Hmmm, broke-down community garden and a surface lot, or new ground floor retail and new condo units....

"affect the sun" and "affect the community garden"

im guessing this was a joke?

you live in an east coast city. if you want lots of sun and no buildings that obstruct it, move to Phoenix.
