For the past few weeks I've noticed several of the large windows of local businesses have been smashed. The marketing firm on 7th between Lombard and South has had their window broken twice by someone and this morning I went by the political office that is right across from the Bean Exchange and the whole area was sectioned off by police because one of their windows was smashed in. I'm wondering...same guy? Bored kids? People who are anti-window?

I live right near the 7th & Bainbridge office (I thought it was a real-estate place - that's what the guy told me when they were moving in, but maybe they changed it again). That break-in happened around 6am. I woke up to some loud banging and then heard some glass falling. I called 911, but the guy was gone by the time the police got there. I couldn't see him from my window, but my neighbor had also called and I believe based on his description, it was a black male wearing a black t-shirt and jeans and he was riding a bike.
It took him a (relatively) long time and he caused a lot of noise, so it seems he really wanted something inside(laptop?)... not sure. |

So, I talked to my neighbor. He went with the police after the incident and they drove around a little bit. They found the guy up on South St, just a couple blocks away riding his bike and holding the stolen laptop under his arm. Apparently he's not the smartest thief.
