Default Another lovely neighbor bites the dust...

We talked about this guy months ago, and now it seems that his day of reckoning has come

http://www.philly.com/philly/hp/news...20080919_.html

Code-named "Operation Broken Doll, the probe was launched in January and targeted Christopher McDaniel, 54, of the 800 block of South Second Street in Queen Village.

Flor Amaya, 31, of Chino, Calif., took payments from McDaniel and shipped meth she received from Mexico inside porcelain dolls to Philadelphia via commercial services such as UPS and FedEx.

The majority of shipments were sent to Ben's Shoes at 231 Market St., where they would be picked up by McDaniel's associates.

No one at the store has been charged, but the investigation is ongoing.

The charges recommended by a statewide investigating grand jury allege that McDaniel paid Elenes $22,000 a pound for the meth and then resold each pound for a $13,000 profit.

I heard a rumor last month that he had cut a deal with the Feds on racketeering charges and got a 3-5 year sentence, don't know when he was to start serving that. I guess it's gotten more complicated now, though don't federal charges take precedence?

I have no idea what's going on with the federal system anymore. They do take precedence, but they have seemed to make some wacky deals that were once unheard of.

There was a similar shakedown in CC sometime ago, and some of the defendents got a plea deal and ended up with house arrest! That was completely unheard of years ago. Maybe the feds are experiencing prison crowding as well?

I agree with you, but federal minimums used to be the absolute minimum no mater what. If a person didn't cooperate, they would get 20 instead of 5; now it seems that even the federal government is giving relative slaps on the wrist.

Okay first my father did not cut any deal with FEDS at all. second i love how you all like to run to your safety of the pc and talk about my father like this i would LOVE to talk with any of you in person. And gladly sort out any misconsceptions you may have regarding my father or this case. Further more I would highly suggest you do not give your two cents on the matter if clearly you have no real knowledge of this matter. On top i would like to state that the news has BY FAR OVER BLOWN WHAT HAS HAPPENED IT IS NO WERE AT THE MAGNITUDE THEY MAKE THIS OUT TO BE IF IT WAS WHY WAS MY FATHER OUT OF $5,000 BAIL? This is definitely Tom Corbeet making its sound as bad as possible to win the peoples hearts (or should i say votes) so please my dad is not a bad guy anyone whos had a decent conversation with him would know.

Let me note my father is innocent until proven guilty so don't start thinking something that the AG isn't even sure of yet.
