minar is in fishtown? Hmmmm... I didn't know south street was "about three blocks" from fishtown; nor that minar was in fishtown.

You sound like a troll that can't use google maps.

Default Minar

I finally had lunch at the new Minar yesterday. Verdict: excellent. It was packed too. Now, does anyone know if they will deliver to QV? AFter an unfortunate incident involving a roach in my wife's vindaloo, Lovash is off our list.

I don't know if it was cooked in or if it simply hopped in after cooking, but it was definitely there in the take-our container, among the pieces of lamb, bathed in vindaloo sauce.

I eat lovash about twice a week for lunch, and have seen the kitchen which is absolutely spotless.

Default Wat Idiots

You people need to stop talking when you dont know what your talking about. Thats how false rumors start! I have patronized Minar for YEARS with my kids. The owners of Ashoka worked at Minar but they did not cook anything. The cook at the old Minar is the owner of the new Minar nothing has changed there. The owners of Ashoka like to mention that they worked at Minar to hype their restaurant up and increase sales so people like you think that management has split up. There was ALWAYS one owner of Minar past and present.

Minar is by far the best Indian Restaurant in Philadelphia. If the food was Salty try it again I bet you wont regret it! They opened last week so they probably are working out some kinks.

Also Paper and plastic is what they do and have done. They are FAST FOOD. I cant believe all the messages I read about that on forums. They are fast food why should they change their table settings? If you want nicer plates dont you think the prices would be much higher like all those other "nice sit down" restaurants who taste like crap?

Dear douchetard,
You sure don't seem to mind that this is in the wrong area of phillyblog, nor that completely unrelated businesses are being talked about because of its misplacement. Instead your major gripe seems to be about paper vs. plastic. You are the idiot-especially when you start off a post with "Wat Idiots". What's next? A posting entitled "Ewe Moruns"?

You seem pretty offended for a patron who is responding to a thread in the wrong forum. In fact, you come across as the probable owner of minar who is reacting strongly to marginal criticism. This is not how you treat and address your customers, sir! As a customer of ashoka palace, I have learned that the nice woman at the counter is a direct relative of the owner (you?) of minar. According to her, she fell in love with and married the former head chef at the old location. I remember seeing her for years at the old minar. Everything from the menu at ashoka to the operation, and the food itself resembles mightily to the old minar, but you feel the need to put them down in order to defend the new minar, perhaps which is your own restaurant.

It is the best? Let me give you my list:
1) Ekta
2) Tiffin
3) Ashoka Palace
4) Minar (Even though I haven't tried it yet, I'll rank you/them here)

"The food was salty...so try it again?"...how many chances do you exactly get to make a first impression? If the owner is the cook, then how can there be "kinks" in his cooking? The only thing that seems to be in his cooking is extra salt.

This is where you most definitively sound like the owner from minar. Why do you feel the need to defend there dinnerware or the lack there of? and I'm sorry, the other nice sit down restaurants "taste like crap?" You sir, are a pompous jerk and I hope your patrons realize how low of an opinion and little regard you hold for them.
