I am moving to a house at Passyunk and Christian... and I am just curious if this neighborhood is generally safe? I am aware there is low-income housing several blocks away, however, the neighborhood is beautiful and I am aware South Philadelphia is strange how it really just varies block by block.... so I am not sure if it necessarily will affect this area.
I am a student at UArts so I would be coming from Broad St to get home, which doesn't go through any bad neighborhoods. Any thoughts? Ilyssa |

As the others have said, it's a good neighborhood and safe. Stuff happens fairly regularly like in any other big city (petty theft, car break-ins, etc.), but if you're careful and attentive (i.e.; not leaving the bloody GPS in the car) you won't have any troubles. In the 7 or 8 years I've been in the area (a little further south from you) I've had a window box of flowers stolen.
The housing project has it's own, mostly self-contained, crime that flares up every now and then, so it really won't impact you over where you are. Good luck in the new house.
