Default Fabric Row Street Work

I took an evening stroll last night along fabric row, and didn't realize PGW has that whole street ripped up. I feel sorry for the merchants. Are the streets going to be repaved and the sidewalks repoured after it's all done? Have you seen those sidewalks? They look as if one of those creatures from the 'Tremors' movie went on an underground walk along the row - it's terrible!

We've been told that the street and pavements will be returned to normal (repaved) when all this mess is done. It seems the more they do, the more problems they encounter--they now have a street collapse to deal with! Wish us luck.....

Default Maybe an Opportunity

It really is a mess on 4th and I hope they get it completed soon. I would also wonder if it's an opportunity to do something like they did on South St. The new lighting and sidewalk basement access doors look great. So while 'the city' is at it, and as some measure of compensation to the businesses that they're impacting on, maybe they could provide improvements while they are repairing. They need the extra lighting anyway.

Bureaucracy doesn't exactly move at the snap of the fingers. It took over 12 years to procure the plans, get funding, find contractors, etc. to do the south street renovations. There are plans to redo 4th street, and the councilman is involved in talks to get more lighting down there-but it takes time and will not occur over night.
