A Dunkin' Donuts? What do you think?
So, word on the grapevine is that QVNA is going to have a zoning meeting on whether or not to allow a Dunkin' Donuts to open between 2nd and 3rd on South. What do you think?
I'm kinda up in the air. A lot of people like dunkin donuts. They could be a decent draw for an otherwise slow block. Yes, we have starbucks. CC has both as well, so I'm not really in the mood for the whole "chain" vs. "indie" debate-especially since every coffee shop in our area is merely an extension of LaColombe's citywide monopoly. Other than that, I really don't know what to think about this. Any thoughts?

Why not? They offer more than coffee and donuts. They can round out the other offerings on the block. The mix of retail/food is a good thing, in the long run.

I can't really see a negative... I think they are bigger now than ever, iced coffee, sandwiches, pizzas... they have a lot more than coffee and donuts now, so I think it's all good

Works for me. I do prefer Starbucks coffee, but their food is terrible. I'd probably switch to DD for the convenience of coffee and food in 1 stop.

I really wanted to hear other people's opinions over the next couple of days.
In the meantime, I just got a text from my QVNA buddy. The hearing(more like qvna peanut gallery) is occurring on August 5th. On what grounds (ha!) could QVNA stop it? Is it zoned commercial, or what variances are they seeking?
