I think it would be a great addition. Most DDs are pretty clean and well maintained, and I really can't see a downside.

What was at 244? Is that one of the empty buildings near Haagen-Dazs and Maoz?

I don't think a DD is a terrible idea. Maybe it will attract more businesses to South Street to go into some of the vacant buildings.

Arghhh, there really aren't that many vacant buildings on South St. Some of what you think is vacant, is under lease agreement. Let's not turn this into another scathing indictment of what South St. is and isn't, PLEASE.

It's a place I won't be frequenting, but many others will. So I say bring it on. It'll be good for business.

Nope. I don't care if La Colombe is a single store or 200 strong through their purchasers. I am merely tired of people boo-hissing certain chains while admiring others. People will boo a single starbucks or a single dunkin donuts in the neighborhood while cheering PhillyJava-which 3 locations in QV. People will boo subway because its corporate while cheering Maoz-which is also a global chain that takes fresh food and fries most of it to make it taste "good". My assertion is that the chain argument has just gotten old, and that each chain or "indy" store is equivalent because in the end its our friends, neighbors, and customers that are working at these places and they are not part of the big ol' conspiracy that people often attribute to corporations.

So I don't see the problem unless you're referring to the usual negatives of a monopoly like high prices and decreasing quality.

Deebee, since you know the facts instead of relying on perception, please tell me the current vacancy rate of south street and what projects are currently moving in. Then, tell me Center City's vacancy rate, then tell me which area in philadelphia has the lowest vacancy rate in the city.

I was propped up against the wall down in front - all this week and next I'm filling in as morning news anchor; which means 3:30a wake-ups ... so I was doing my best to keep awake til the final note was played - - a good show though - not great - but good
