Hey all, what public school (9-12) supports Hawthorne area now. Also when did the academy at palumbo (palumbo hs?) become privatized? Haven't lived in the area for 20 years and was just doing a walk through. Saw that Hawthorne elementary is closed too. Where do the k-8s go now? We used to live on s. watts off of fitz. then in an apartment above a corner store on 13th & kater. Thanks.

i cannot answer all your questions, but i can tell you that Academy At Palumbo is a public school, not "privatized". it is a special admissions high school, with competative academic criteria. students apply to get in, but it is not privately run.

Thanks for clearing that up. I guess, when did it become a special admissions school is my question then? I ended up going to Ben Frank HS in the late 80s.
