Default hanging a piece of art

here is the story:
hubby goes to Vegas, apparently has a great time with friends, 6 weeks later a huge crate from UPS comes to the door with a 50 pound framed piece of art work. Hubby looks sheepish, runs and hides.
Now we have no idea how to hang this (I have hidden all hammers and tools so hubby cannot find and attempt himself) - does anyone know who to hire for this?
thanks.
Mia

So this couldn't have stayed in Vegas?

Anyway, why not ask the talented guys at Trinity Framing, 3rd and Bainbridge?

I would call Atelier Art Services, which does installation of large art pieces -- http://www.atelierartservices.com/?page_id=6 . (Don't get put off by the fancy-schmancy-ness of it all; I've found their prices on everything from storage to packing to be very reasonable).

Just get heavy-duty picture hanging hardware (the box will give you a weight rating), find the studs (the things in the walls, not your husband and his friends), and hang the thing up. 50 pounds for framed artwork is actually not that heavy.

Then Nips, you haven't been looking!

I've had it for over a month. Put the Outback out to pasture (otherwise known as leaving it up in the mountains, since all I will really need it for is transport of skis, bikes, kayaks and towing the boat) and gave up my monthly spot under I-95 (or will at the end of this month). It's now just like the good ol' days when I first moved here - haven't had to park more than 1/2 block from the house since getting my little zebra.

50lbs. isn't heavy for art. The plastic drywall hangers at cohen's rate up to 75lbs. for the right ones-the nornal size ones rate at 50lbs. You can ask Mitch at Cohen's Hardware for help-he's open today.

If you really really really don't want to make holes that need patched in the future, you can try monkey hooks. They are available at target, home depot, etc. They put a very small hole in the drywall, and are rated at 50lbs.

Then of course, if you're lucky enough to find a stud exactly where you wish to place the picture, there's a lil' old thing called a nail that can go directly into the wood.

i'd just get heavy duty mirror hangers, some are rated to hold up to 150 lbs. i believe. like alesis said they'll just make tiny holes.

hang two at least at foot apart, but please, please, measure everything out first and make sure it is completely level.

should be a 20 min job tops.
