Default Thinking of moving to BV/QV

Possibly around 6th and Catherine...Anything we should know that we might not have noticed from hanging out around there?

I'm so paranoid about my bag being stolen, I'd probably shove it up my ass if I could. I usually keep it on my lap. I never put it on the back of a chair or on the floor.

Wasn't there an alleged mob clubhouse at 6th and Catherine at one time?

Anyway my wife and I have a place nearby there and I think the area is great. Parking on the street can be a little bit of a pain at night.

Big fan of QV/BV in general, love the vibe around the place.
I'm moving to QV myself soon, the low crime rates just added to an already appealing area. Parking can definitely get tricky, but everywhere is like that,so no big deal.

You might find this link useful in terms of crime stats.

LOL!
Funny!

We were there last night, and tonight, too, though and saw a bunch of people who weren't...must've been from out of the neighborhood like us.

I really like both neighborhoods, at least the vibe I've gotten when I'm there. I wasn't too familiar with that part of it, though.
Looks like a lot of interesting people, as with the rest of the city, but there was one thing that stuck out.
We went down a tiny alley on our bikes, just looking at all the cool houses, and there were some women sitting out on the corner of a sidewalk in lawnchairs. One greeted us like she knew us, which was really nice. That doesn't happen everywhere you go.

I live a couple of doors down from them. They are always out there in the summer & are happy to talk to everyone that walks by. The location is great you can walk to everything. Wost things that ever happend to me is getting my bike stolen (my fault for locking it up out side) and someone has stolen our trash cans a couple of times.

Default Trash Cans

Not to change the subject but I have a legitimate theory about stolen trash cans. The trash men themselves throw the entire can into the truck when it is too heavy, or too much of a burden for them to get all of the trash out. I have had 4 cans stolen in the last 6 months all one at a time. I am almost positive that two of them were simply tossed into the truck. Another time I had a bunch of tree branches in a "keg" bucket. They threw the entire thing in the truck. The trashmen here are the worst! So lazy and messy....

Sorry about that....QV/BV is really nice now that many of the crackheads have moved on.....

Makes sense but our cans were actually stolen out of an alcove. You know what, they took the trash too!

I've had the opposite experience - I tried to get them to throw away a garbage can and they wouldn't. I kept it empty and put a sign that said "this can is garbage" but they still didn't take it.

And I've found the garbage men here (I'm a few blocks from the location in question) to be terrific. My cans are often stacked neatly against the wall after being emptied - that's the guys who are on the small truck that goes down Fulton. On Catharine, the guys always wave to my kids, joke with them, let them throw garbage in the truck and are in general as friendly and helpful as can be.
