This trash is the embodiment of resentement: perhaps you should read more Nitzsche. Or, given your liberal tongue, can you even pronounce his name correctly?

Ironic, you can't even spell it.

I've lived in neighborhoods where I heard gunshots down the block, and where I've looked into the parking lot, where my car had been broken into, twice, and saw a bleeding guy walking through, carrying a gun, so I don't think you can presume to know where I'm "coming from," or my beliefs about people, or anyone else's.
"Haves" and "have-nots" come in all colors, and ignorance doesn't have economic boundaries.
Apparently.

(Please god don't let this perpetuate the racial/crime nonsense I feel starting on yet another thread here. The nice lady just wanted to know what people think of the 'hood, nothing more.)
Move here, you can walk to Sarcones and Los Taquitos del Pueblo.
I just read your posts after I posted back to..."Mr. White Guilt."
Welcome to PB!
I would like to see more posts about the 'hood that DON'T include detailed criminal reports. I do live in Philly, after all, only a mile or 2 away. I just haven't spent much time south of South street, though, as far as at the restaurants, etc.

Is Los Taquitos better than Taqueria Veracruzana?

And, does anyone know about the "chocolate bar" on 6th?

Do you mean Golosa, the dessert cafe? I've been there a few times, it's great! Similar idea to Naked Chocolate as far as having different percentages of drinking/tasting chocolate. There are also lots of different cakes and desserts, coffee, tea, espresso, cappuccino, etc. It's quaint and the owner is an adorable italian man from Florence. Try it!

Veracruzana is good, Los Taquitos is good. We just walked, OMG! to 8th & Christian, a few nights ago to Paxia, a new BYOT, and had a fabulous dinner (great mole sauce).

The drinking chocolate is what you'll find in Italy. The gelato is from Capogiro, and the cakes look amazing. Opened from 4PM, and now you're making me want to go.

Default sort of OT

Yesterday a mom in my son's playgroup asked where I lived, and when I replied Queen Village, she said "Oh, I hear that's a real up and coming area."

I didn't know what to say; I just kind of stared at her. Is there anyone who considers QV "up and coming" right now? Prices seem to indicate that it's "here".

(This is a similar reaction a friend of mine had when I mentioned a house for sale nearby for over $1m. She said "why would anyone pay that to live THERE? I mean, for $1m you could live in a nice part of town like Society Hill").

QV was "up and coming" 25 years ago. It's arrived. Do these people have their heads up their asses? It IS nice.

I think Los Taquitos is at least a little better though I haven't been to Veracruzana in a while. You can also get Los Taquitos at the Headhouse Sq. market on Sundays - their tacos al pastor are amazing.

What is conservative about recognizing that drug activity leads to violent crime and that the residents of these drug-plagued areas have a stop snitching rule. I didn't say anyone was blameless. I just said that you are an ass for making stupid generalizations about something you don't seem to know much about.

Doesn't strike me as being conservative or liberal if you must put it into political terms...
