I am just getting home after celebrating the fraternity & sorority picnic on South Street. By some act of divine intervention, a transformer blew at 8th & South Streets, that cast a few blocks into darkness. Which in turn caused the police brass to shut down South Street for safety reasons. After a few hours of cleaning things up, we were on our way. A few celebrants had to visit the graybar hotel. But all in all it wasn't all that bad. Now time for some sleep.

A power outage that lasted for over an hour in the summer...fun.

They should plan that outage every year

Does the 4th Street sign in front of Starbucks still have a bullet hole thru it ? It appeared during a Greek Picnic in 96.

Meanwhile, the only disorder I observed late last night was while coming out of Suburban Station, just before midnight, where we had just returned from NYC on the R7. A small group of white youths (late teens or early 20s) set off not one, but two very loud booming firecrackers, possibly M80s, in the western end of the station. I didn't see any police response within the few minutes we were within the area. Lucky for them they didn't cross paths with the state police SWAT teams that had their staging area for the Governor's Conference just a few blocks away.

See, that's the difference right there.
The basically non-threatening pranks like firecrackers done by some white kids, most likely leftover "ammo" from the 4th.
This stuff makes me smile, unlike hearing about gunshots and death caused by that "other Leading Brand" of juvenile.

Did this have anything to do with Spring Garden being shut down from Delaware to about 10th last night?
