According to the Constitution, every citizen is accorded the same rights. Yes, the charges are disgusting, I'm not disputing that, but you cannot decide who has rights and who does not based on the crime charged, or whether or not the perpetrator confessed. That creates 1st and 2nd class citizens.

This is not about a store opening up or bad service at a restaurant or dog **** - these are some very serious accusations that are being thrown about without any publicly available information.

I've personally cited where CONVICTED sexual predators live in our neighborhood; if "Mitch" is convicted, I'd do it again. Until then, he is accused, and there is nothing but gossip and some bizarre and uncoordinated stories flying around.

I've personally quoted cops in phillyblog threads, only to learn that the information was twisted and wrong under a 'whisper down the lane theory'. I am not saying that Don has wrongful intent or malice, but stories told secondhand through officers get as misconstrued as those told by civilians.

If he's guilty, I'll make the knot in the noose thanks to my new pocket book, "The Little Book of Knots". Till then, I'm a bit surprised that this thread hasn't yet been booted-especially since I made some equivalent threads through the years that were canned before anyone even got to see them.

I was wondering the same thing. It is a horrible, disgusting crime and deserves the fullest of punishment. But, posting this kind of "information," without any way for the general reader to confirm the story, is deeply troubling. Not knowing any of these players, how would one know this isn't a malicious neighbor, angry ex or business competitor looking to destroy a reputation?

Yes, I hear the response "I'm just trying to warn people." But, I'd rather rely on the police and courts for that.

Threads like this are one of a prosecutor's worst nightmares. Can you say "change of venue"?
