You're really not that important junior.

I just don't live on PB as you do.

But where? Maybe we should build concentration camps; maybe we should make them work for what they get; after all, work makes people free...
Looks like Simon Wolf got it right . The "but where" is a problem though.. Maybe he can come up with a solution then crime would drop to record lows.

It sounds to me like he's blaming people for moving in near public housing. Sorry but regardless of if you live near public housing and open air drug markets or not people SHOULDN'T be okay with that going on. It should be addressed, PHA houses get run down and abused, and it soils the whole neighborhood and city. Theres an obvious solution.. but lots of bleeding hearts would cry about it.

Incidentally, anyone seen the movie Slow Burn? I ended up watching it solo a year ago when I was stuck in a foreign city overnight, and have been waiting to bring up that plot line re: the Queen Village low-income housing.
Hopefully, they should demolish all of it and go market rate- the crime would drop exponentially. Same in SWCC as long as they can get universal out of there.

I look at evolution as the problem here. Most of us evolved from this

"Gibbons live in small, monogamous families composed of a mated pair and up to four offspring."

While a certain segment of our population seems to have evolved from this

Nothing is going to happen to that getto because once someone tries to do something they are automatically labeled a racist, especially in Philly where everyone is racially, and economically divided.

There's some lovely open space in western Poland we're not using at the moment.

It didn't move in after you.

Actually, the houses at the old Southwark projects are in remarkably good shape. But it only takes one person to let drug dealers use their house as a supply house to ruin the neighborhood (though I think that there's more than one house, based on the number of dealers on 5th St).

Stop focusing on the project themselves; they're not the problem, and I'm willing to bet most people living there are good people who mind their own business.

If you want to do something about crime in your neighborhood, put the screws to the police and make them do something about the drug dealing and to the absentee owners of the vacant properties in the area to either renovate or sell.

There's lots of other Section 8 housing in the city that doesn't suffer from crap like that, so again, blaming public housing isn't going to get you a solution.

I'll take that bet and make you another. I'm willing to bet that at least roughly half of the people living in the projects are involved in the drug trade in some manner, either buying, selling or some other contact with illegal drug dealing.

I'd love to know what you suggest the police do. There's no more room at the gray bar inn to incarcerate more of the scuzzballs. What's the point of arresting them when they are back on their drug corner in a few hours?

You're right, the housing itself doesn't do anything. It's the people who live there actually.

Wow. Roughly half, huh? I would love to know what type of scientific study you performed to come to this conclusion. That may be the most ignorant statement in a thread that is full of them.

Gotta love the internet. People show their true colors when able to anonymously post their thoughts.

Law abiding, tax paying folks deserve to live in a safe neighborhood without having to put up with a bunch gangsta thugs shooting it out every night. If we are going to give away million dollar apartments to lazy, shiftless thugs then build them in the ghetto instead of destroying a decent neighborhood. No wonder the city has lost a million residents.
