Default Nutter is awesome

To bad I did not go to this Penn's Landing meeting yesterday. Nutter is awesome and it is about time that something happens to the water front, it certainly would improve this city significantly.

what i love is how - in an earlier article on philly.com (since updated) the spokesperson for Penn's Landing Corp said that they have never published a list of their board of directors and she couldn't release that information to the media without approval from her boss.

Sure - I get the official steps - but c'mon... talk about SHAAAAADY!

As much as I like the worker bees at PLC and have worked with them for years on various projects - I must say, I am excited to see the dissolve of PLC and the birth announcement of a new, much more transparent org...

Another great piece to read is Inga's:

Default Go Nutter

Wow and wow! I was recently out at Penns Landing for the big craft show and that hardscape is brutal in the noonday sun. Anything to breakup those expanses of concrete and to open up the rivers edge will be fantastic, not to mention a seven-mile trail.

Default Festival Pier

Have you been to Festival Pier in the summer? It is the most uncomfortable, horrible venue for music I have ever experienced. That black asphalt just radiates the heat and I bet on a nice July afternoon the temp must get up to 120 degrees. Plus you can't bring your own water in and no place to sit. The place is just so inviting.

I hope Mayor Nutter plans on doing something with this useless piece of land.

I agree! I saw the Beastie Boys in concert there last August. I was miserable by the end of the show. It pathetic--it's an asphalt lot with a few beer stands.

Nutter is the man.

Exactly what happened? He held a press conference. Who cares? Let me know when something is actually done.

I feel your cynicism - but the fact that he is dissolving Penn's Landing Corp and starting fresh - is a great step forward ... way more than just a 'press conference' to me...

so, i guess 'i care'

Gutting and opening up a lot of these organizations is a good thing.

What does dissolving Penn's Landing Corp accomplish? They will probably start a new corp with all the same people running things.

again - i appreciate your cynicism. But personally, i tend to have more faith in Nutter when he says that the new org will be transparent complete with public meetings

... things PLC rarely, if ever, had...
