I waited to reply this post until I saw the car again (I walk past that intersection every morning when I walk my 4 year old to school). While the car does park on the little island sidewalk, at least today it was parked without blocking the curbcut and only covering about 10% of the sidewalk. We walked by with no problem at all, without having to walk in the street (other than crossing Bainbridge). Another mom with a stroller walked by at the same time.

While I agree the car shouldn't be on the sidewalk, it really wasn't that big a deal at all.

In case the police car parks on the sidewalk again just look for one of the parking authority people walking around there all the time and ask them to write a ticket for blocking the sidewalk
They write tickets on our street all the time whenever cars are parked on the sidewalk.

The island is a completely different story. There's enough room for a ryder truck while allowing plenty of passable space(I know this since Famous did it alot).

I agree with jessme; under the bastion of righteousness rules they should not park on the sidewalk-but for that time period, and the ample room available, its really no big deal.

To the rest of you who think that big brother's always watching you-he's not as you're really not that interesting to him. Call me looney, but I don't think the Philadelphia Police Department is going to initiate a search warrant over an internet complaint about a car on the sidewalk. And blueroses, if you ever want some italian bread I always over-order, so I have extra.

I have specifically asked two different PPA people to ticket the cars that park on the itty bitty sidewalks on our little side street. I have even showed PPA the cars on sidewalks so small they also block the streets.

Both PPA people told me they couldn't ticket because there was no sign. Seriously? I was angry enough to print out the laws for the next guy. PPA said it didn't matter - no sign no ticket. ARGH! So, people continue to park on the itty bitty sidewalks and block not only the sidewalks (sometimes both sides of the street) but also the street itself.

Think Hancock-sized tiny sidewalks.
