Glad to hear the drunk only hurt himself. Usually it's everybody else that gets maimed and killed, and the drunk comes out unscathed.

I don't know ... I think duct tape might also be needed for that one.

Cool. I watched the re-airing and fox got the story completely wrong, which isn't surprising since they spent the first two minutes of the newscast apologizing about a story from the night before that was completely inaccurate.

I don't believe the officer was hurt, but the drunk driver was taken to the hospital for minor injuries from his accidents.

A little bondo and the car will be as good as new.

Maybe, and since duct tape has been used to fix the wings on airplanes, I think we might be alright.

At least the driver's side still looks good!

duct tape is perfectly valid for car repairs - it kept my back bumper on my car for over a year.

I think I'm confusing details between this incident and another. OH, is it true that two officers were hit this past weekend? I was told yesterday that an officer was hit after a long police chase throughout the 3rd and that her leg was broken? Did you hear anything about it?

Friend of mine watched this go down. Drunk guy driving the wrong way down 3rd hit the cop right around Bainbridge I believe, then proceed to turn down Monroe going the wrong way again. Drunk missed the turn and F'ed up about 5 to 6 cars along Monroe. A truck was coming down Monroe, the drunk hit him and a parked car and got stuck. He got out started to run and was caught. The woman in the cop car was ok but shaken a bit up.

Well, as that is my house in the background....let me tell ya all what really happened....
At around 2 in the morning I heard a very loud crunching noise outside, followed by flashing lights that were more impressive than the Bicentennial fire works display. I stupidly ran out side to see an out of breathe cop limping back to what was left of her car, a BMW nicely squished to the corner of the block and just general mass chaos. So, here is the story as told to me by the police officer involved: She was driving down 3rd street to see a car driving at a ridiculous speed towards her. When she realized he had no intention of stopping, she jumped out of her car, hence, the limping. She tried to chase him, but that was kinda useless. He hit her car, pressing it up against the parked car & in the process took out almost every side view mirror on the block. As he got to the corner, he made a left turn on to Monroe, continuing his path of carnage against traffic. That is when he plowed the BMW, taking its back bumper with him. He did a little more damage along the way & was finally stopped by a pick up truck who swerved out of the way enough to not get hit head on, but not enough for this moron to get past him. At some time during her jump out of a moving car, she called for help & at this point the bike officers came out of nowhere like paratroopers by the dozen. So, now he is wedged between a pick up truck & a hard place & decides to run. He did not make it far before the bike cops caught him. He had a passenger in the car who decided to stay put. They were both drunk & the rumor was that the car was stolen. The passenger in the BMW bumped his head a bit & the police officer in the car twisted her ankle....could have been worse....now the real fun begins....The ambulances, assorted Police officials, photographers & onlookers hung out till about 5 am....yes, I was cranky the next day!

Gosh, it seems so dangerous in your part of the neighborhood. I don't know how you get from your house to other good parts of town after dark...
