Too true. This is the other aspect of outdoor seating. Businesses are approved then take advantage. There is a minimal amount of sidewalk space to be open for passing by at all times.

Worst example ever would have to be that Bleu or Rouge or Gris or whatever damn French color place over on Rittenhouse. Every time I have to apologetically squeeze through the masses of smug yuppies I fel like unzipping and taking a piss in their f*cking mimosas

Other restaurants like Java and Red Hook gained the neighbors support and therefore were granted outdoor seating.
Such as with the Ice Cream parlor that tried to open at South and Hancock. Rick Cole had the audacity to sit down at a SSHD committee meeting the other day and claim that QVNA supported the place but that there were a significant number of residents on the block who opposed it. I suppose when an entire community is supporting a project and the 3 residents on a commercial block oppose it....majority loses in QVNA. Thankfully, everyone at the committee meeting called him out on it, specifically John Foy who basically said to him "no you didn't....you catered to 3 residents on the block, don't try to deny it."

I wish the Irish Times luck but I don't know that anything can overcome QVNA.

I'm not a secret source. I tell it as I see it and call people out when they need to be called out.

Default Irish Times got their Seating!

Hi folks,

Good news for the good folks at Irish Times and their appreciative neighbors and customers, from QVNA:

the QVNA zoning committee supported a compromise that would allow 4 tables (2 seats each) along 2nd Street and 2 tables (2 seats each) along Bainbridge -- close to the corner. (They wanted 3 additional tables with 4 seats each). We restricted the hours of the last outdoor seating to 10pm on weeknights and 11pm on weekends. As we always do with outdoor seating applications, we restricted the permit to one year, requiring reapplication and review. Everyone seemed happy.

Very good news. I'm sure they'll do well with it. Hopefully it will serve as a great example of how outdoor seating can be equally beneficial for businesses and residents.
