Getting back to the robberies, there have been a rash of them in the east end of the District.

The suspect I am most concerned with is as follows:

Black Male, tall & slim around 6'5", light beard, 20-25 years old, uses a black semi-auto handgun.

Confronts people about to enter a property and forces them inside point of gun, then commits the robbery out of view. Unknown direction of travel because victims are still inside.

A handful of these have occured at different times and on both sides of Lombard Street (The dividing line for the 3rd/6th Districts).

Use caution when just about to enter a property, take note if someone appears to be shadowing you.

If something does happen call 911 immediatley and give the best description possible and don't touch anything that the suspect may have touched.

I could stand in the street in the middle of the afternoon screaming bloody murder and no one would do anything about it.
Careful, with no tone of voice possible in a web forum the above hyperbole just comes off as seeming dumb.

Wrong. Several years ago around 4 p.m. in the afternoon as I was walking down my block a guy ran up from behind me and grabbed my purse. I *did* start screaming bloody murder ... at least 3 neighbors came out, including one with two huge dogs. The guy saw the dogs, dropped the purse, and ran down an alley.

I don't know what to say other than this is one of the wackiest statements I've heard on phillyblog. Have you once viewed the BV crime blotter? Most of the time you won't because its non-existence. Crime is an occasional occurrence compared to the rest of the city. Trés trés bizarre. Hopefully you have your demographic boundaries askew, otherwise there's definitely something else a bit loose.

I'm so paranoid about my bag being stolen, I'd probably shove it up my ass if I could. I usually keep it on my lap. I never put it on the back of a chair or on the floor.
