So DeeChef, I'm still waiting for you to justify the classiness of Society Hill using porno and hooker money to pay its anti-development legal bills? So classy, so cl-assy.

I'm pretty good friends with a manager\bartender over at Zot, as far as I know, not closing down.
I can also agree to the fact that I know A LOT of service industry people in the South Philly\Center City\South Street area... and guess what, I know that a whole lot of them do some sort of drugs (and most seem to prefer the coke...that many of them get from the society hill area). And saying that ridding the city of the LCB would invoke Anarchy is one of the funniest things I've ever read... yeah, it'd be crazzzzy for me to get a bottle of wine AND a six pack at one store, that's cause for rioting I tell ya!

Darn good stuff, though. I didn't smoke any for about 15 years, but a restaurant buddy got me to try it last year around Christmas. Whoah, I ended up flat on my @ss at....sorry, can't say where-but there's no way I'm ever trying that whacky weed again! I'll stick to my vodka and arrogant bastard(the beer, not my disposition). And I never understand how anyone stuffs crap up their nose. To each is own, I guess. |

Yeah, I have enough issues with my nose as it is, I don't need nothing extra up there! It doesn't bother me if people do it around me, I certainly don't care about people smoking the weed... myself, lotsa beer keeps me happy. As for Zot, I actually had the manager at my house Sunday night for a bbq, and he made no mentions of not having a job... so I think they aren't going anywhere for a while (much to the dissapointment to some of the neighbors, I'm sure)

To bring the conversation back to full circle, I don't think the neighbors have a problem with the place itself; they merely want all businesses on that strip to respect Naudain Street.
As a former outsider, I had the same ignorance at one time. One of my places is attached to one of South Street's notorious alleyways paved with gold. Since I just viewed it as an alley, I often stored stuff back there, employees took smoke breaks, the back door would be open with music blaring, etc. Needless to say, I quickly learned about neighbors, community groups, etc., and rectified the situation before it progressed any further. If you're from out of town it looks like an alley. If you live in a million dollar home back there, the perception is different. Honestly, I can see both sides of the fence-and its merely the complication of the way our city is designed. Quote:
