Anyone know what is going on at the buildings between Hikaru and Head House Books? They have been gutting the 2nd and 3rd floors of the buildings for the past week or so and have just begun demoing the first floor which looks to have had a restaurant/bar in it at some point. There's a zoning notice on the building but they have it behind a chain link fence, which seems to defeat the purpose of posting notices, so i havent been able to read what's going on there.
Also, there has been some activity at Ulana's on bainbridge next to the Goth Cathedral this past week. People working inside and a new coat of paint on the exterior. Anyone have any information on these two properties or know what's going on? |

The guy who owns the buildings on 2nd also owned the ones on Hancock st around the corner from the Diner. He is turning them back into houses/condos.
Don't know about Ulana's but that place could use some work... |

Gotcha. Do you know if he is going to convert the ground floor into any retail or will it purely be used for the entrances to the residences?

That used to be players pub...it was a pretty big pool hall and bar a few years back. You can read about its demise if you search players on the blog. The owner of the building owns South Street Diner. I inquired about this space for a restaurant a few months ago and he told me he was renovating upstairs and was thinking of breaking up the downstairs into a few smaller stores instead of the one big space. He told me he didn't want anything in there that was going to play music.....anyone looking for a boutique may want to go to South Street Diner and ask him if he has tenants yet, although from the stories of Players he seems like he may not be the best landlord...
