Default Bedtime Stories Presents: A Tribute To The Jersey Shore

WHAT: BEDTIME STORIES PRESENTS THE JERSEY SHORE
WHERE: The Shubin Theater, 4th and Bainbridge, one block south of South St.
WHEN: Wed. June 4, 8 p.m.
COST: $10 All Ages/BYOB

The summer is here. And that can only mean one thing for us: a bathroom break at the Frank S. Farley rest area. From microbrews in Margate to post-prom intercourse in Seaside Heights, the Jersey Shore has enchanted and enriched the lives of several generations of grease balls from the Philadelphia and New York metropolitan areas.

Bedtime Stories, Philly’s premier monthly theme comedy showcase, will present an in-depth look at what makes The Shore such a major part of our lives -- fried dough balls dipped in diabetes-inducing amounts of powdered refined sugar, airbrushed tank tops commemorating the death of entry-level gang members, and the chance to shoot paintballs at a man dressed as an Arab.

Also, this month at Bedtime Stories we will feature a very special music guest. Coming down the Turnpike from Brooklyn is EMPEROR X, an acoustic/low-fi punk/new wave pop soothsayer who will rock your socks off.

Bedtime Stories is produced by the Philly Improv Theater, a non-profit theater company which provides the best in local alternative and improv comedy. The Philly Improv Theater also hosts classes, workshops and other activities to bolster the local comedy community.

Every month, host Gregg Gethard comes up with a theme and invites his favorite local comedy acts to perform bits/sketches/videos based all around that theme. Past themes include Hipsters, Failed Relationships, Sports and a Tribute to HBO’s The Wire.

Past performers include Dave Hill (HBO, MOJO‘s King of Miami), Ptolemy Slocum (The Wire, The Sopranos), and local regulars like The Sixth Borough, Secret Pants, Meg and Rob, Don Montrey, Doogie Horner, Kent Haines, Anton Shuford, Jamie Fountaine, Jon Goff and many others from the emerging Philly alt-comedy scene.

Please order your tickets ahead of time (at www.phillyimprovtheater.com) as Bedtime Stories has reached capacity for the past five shows. As one reviewer wrote about Bedtime Stories: “Even if you didn't get there in time to get a chair, no loss, you would have fallen off it from laughing anyway“.
