I am looking for a roofer who is familiar with preparing an existing rowhome roof for an intensive green roof installation. I am working with a green roof installer who does not do any of the roof prep/waterproofing that is necessary (They typically work with new construction for green roofs). The installer said that they "typically use two layers of mod-bit and then a root barrier of EPDM".
Any roofers familiar with this process or interested in the project? The installer will work with the roofer to ensure that the correct prep work is performed.

The job will be affiliated with the Onion Flats co. that has built several green homes in Fishtown. They mentioned that the project could receive some press coverage due to its uniqueness (not too many, if any, rowhomes in Philly that have been retrofitted with an intensive, lawn-like, usable green roof).

sorry, don't know of any roofers...but just curious about the green roof installation that you will be doing. Did you have the roof looked at by a structural engineer? Typical residential roof framing can not support thick green roof construction. Did you have to reinforce the roof joists?
