Sorry, got my north and south confused. It is south of Washington and north of Geno's

Another good place is Mama's Grill on the 600 block of South Street. Falafels, Shawarmas, Chicken Kabobs. Slightly pricer than other falafel/Kabob places, (kosher chicken) but you can taste the difference in the qualtity of the meat/chicken.

I second the recommendation for Mama's. My only gripe is that I always seem to be in the mood for some shwarma on Saturdays, and they're closed for the Sabbath.

That's my problem with them also. I have been going to Cianfrani park on Fri nights in the summer to hear music and I would love to get some falafels and shawarmas but always settle for pizza.

I have to shill Ethan at the South St Whole Foods. He is awesome, and he fills us up on whatever samples he is dishing out. Last time I was there over the weekend, it was Icelandic Char with a mesquite rub and lime juice.

We tried it once and found the Thai place on the 100blk of South to be better. I can't think of the name but its a few doors down from Pietros.
You might be thinking of Tamarind but I am not positive. Good food at Tamarind, better than Pad Thai. There is a smell or spice used at Pad that is unappealing to me, even in the salad dressing. Maybe its how they store their veggies. Hard to explain.

Have to shill LaFourno. Went to a quick dinner tonight with the old guy. Kinda hungry--too hungry for sushi across the street. Took a look at the menu outside. There was a board for the $25 three-course dinner. (Inside of the menu as the Menu Turistica, and normally $30). Appetizers included tiger shrimp; mussels; and Farinatta bread. The three choices for a main course were a center cut veal chop; lobster ravioli, and something else I couldn't eat. Then a choice of cannoli or cheesecake. Hubby opted for the special, chose the mussels, and there were 10? nicely sized baked mussels; the pork chop was served with tuscan fries--and I had a bite and it was delicious; and dessert. The nice thing was that a small house salad was served with this as well. He left a full, happy man.

I'm so paranoid about my bag being stolen, I'd probably shove it up my ass if I could. I usually keep it on my lap. I never put it on the back of a chair or on the floor.
