I LOVE the new look of Bridget Foys, which makes even the red lights look good. It's always the place that we recommend for out of town guests to go, sit, get a good feel for the street and go back to again and again to relax between visiting the sights. And the bonus is that we don't feel guilty in the least for not entertaining them in our home; we just join them there!
Is anyone else on the street planning such an investment ahead of the Stampers Square project? |

Designer - Are you seriously assailing the virtues of your superstar "design work" AS IF it were a simple passerby's observation - then asking if anyone is looking for services like those that Bridget Foys paid you for? Come on. We are a colorful bunch, but MOST** of us aren't stupid. It would be much more credible if your clients were singing your praises, and PB is probably not the right venue for such endorsements.
** re MOST - There are a lot of stupid people on here, but not the majority. |

Design aspects aside, I think some forget that Bridget Foys had no choice but to redo their facade since a car went through it recently.
The facade was designed by Michael Gruber who owns Michael Gruber Design Associates. http://www.gruberdesign.net/ProjectD...site%20dwg.jpg His lovely wife, Roberta, is a professor with an amazing resumé: Roberta H. Gruber is Director of the Fashion and Design & Merchandising Department at the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design. She holds a Bachelors degree in Fashion Design and a Masters degree in Arts Management from Drexel University. Roberta has a strong background in design and the business of design. She began her teaching career after spending several years in industry as president of her own dress company and as a designer for other nationally recognized firms. She also creates wearable art and has been hired to develop fashion illustrations and graphic images for marketing and advertising purposes for a variety of companies. The Antoinette Westphal College of Drexel is responsible for an 8 year old partnership in providing a design and merchandising program focused towards improving South Street window displays: http://www.drexel.edu/westphal/acade...s/#southstreet I think the place looks good, but I'll leave it to the opinion of a designer. Personally, I think a desginer should of accounted for the permanent surroundings when designing a facade(such as 'even the red lights'). Since Designer is assumably a designer, I think even they would agree that placement is flawed in its exterior sign posting given the future visual restriction of mature trees. The Designer should stock up on portfolio picts before the landscapers come in.

Wow, that's quite a stretch.
I don't do that type of work, but I was interested in knowing who did it and saying thank you for a great job. And, no, I'm not a fan of the light placement, but the design, in my opinion, makes the most of them. We're steeling ourselves for an onslaught of a summer of out of town guests, and that pleasant raised, sheltered sidewalk seating design keeps them happy and content without our doing anything to entertain them, which is something that isn't found anywhere else on the street. Were it available elsewhere, the guests would be there, too. As we all know there are a few facades that could use a redo, which would benefit all of us. So Mereward, what do you think about the design? Are you, as we are, huge invested neighborhood fans? Quote:

I myself of not a big fan of the make-over, liked the old color or lack thereof scheme better.
Kinda looks chain eatery looking to me.
