No, the stats are Grinols' (who is nonetheless a respected and accomplished economist) and are correctly attributed to him. The reference to the Nobel Prize was incorrect. I was thinking of Samuelson.
Bottom line we are getting nowhere on this forum. Therefore, I challenge you to a public debate on the casino issue. That is of course if you have the courage to do so. Wally |

Wally, you are completely out of gas.
First you claim that casinos will cause "the inevitable death of our neighborhood". And you call me immature? You live in the italian market area-I can assure you that the casinos will affect you about as much as the weekend crowd at Tony Lukes. Secondly, you claim "world class cities" don't have casinos, when you don't know what a world class city is, or the fact that most of them do have casinos. Instead, you seemingly admit to relying on other politicians for your information, as you state: "apparently Sal Masi Speaker of the House in Massachusetts, is clueless as well because he said essentially the same thing during a debate on legalizing gambling in that State". His name is Sal DiMasi, and you ARE clueless if you can't do enough research to find that most world class cities DO have gambling. 3rd-Once again, you bring up something you know nothing about. You cite Vanguard's "office in the burbs" because "2,000 people will work there". Its actually 6,000 jobs. And where are they going? Chester County, where there is already a casino. The casino obviously didn't cause the "inevitable death" to that neighborhood, since they are getting thousands more jobs. Instead, Vanguard decided to invest $500 million into Chester-near an awful casino. You really like cooking your own goose, don't you. How did you get through law school providing fuel against your own arguments? As for maturity-no one decried the kid's age when he said "The king wears no robes", for there is no debating fact. You sir, fail to properly research facts, and have obviously relied on google and inaccurate attempts at quick-whit; very poor qualities for a wish-to-be politician. If you lose your sense of decorum this fast, I cannot think of anyone who would want your inaccuracies and ill-temper to represent Philadelphians. Last edited by alesis : 04-28-2008 at 07:59 PM. |

Dear Mr. Dumass,
Obviously you can't read. I am against casinos-just as I am against b.s. and made up arguments. And I'm not running for office, so why should I debate you. You, instead, should fess up that you are constantly googling others' words, and you have never researched economists other than to reuse spoonfed dribble garnered by others. Quote:

Alesis, one minor correction. There are no casinos in Chester County. Rather there is a casino (Harrah's) in the city of Chester which is in Delaware County.

That's not a minor mistake-its a major one on my end...yet this yahoo, mr. politico, can't even snatch that opportunity. Not a politician, not even a classmate of debate101. Wally has proved himself to be nothing more than a cockroach in italian market who is unworthy of a single vote. |
