Default League Street in between 6th and 7th.

I am moving up to Philly at the end of the summer and saw a place for august on League Street in between 6th and 7th. I really like the place but I am not sure about the neighborhood. My boyfriend lives in Center City on 10th and Pine and went to check the place out. He liked the neighborhood but I am just concerned about safety. Girls and boys differ in this respect. Would a girl be okay walking around this neighborhood at night?

My friend has lived on League between Passyunk and 8th for years. She lives alone and I have visited her there several times. I think that neighborhood is very safe and I feel comfortable walking at night.

I have lived on Carpenter between 6th & 7th for a little more than three years. I don't know if you know the area or not, but the streets go Washington, League, Kimball (another small street), and then Carpenter, so where you are talking about is within a "block" from where I live. As a female in her twenties, I feel completely safe and comfortable walking around the area. As someone else mentioned, as long as you stay away from the projects between 3rd & 5th, it is a very safe area. I mean, it is the city and things happen, so you always have to stay alert no matter what time of day it is, but I have never felt scared or uncomfortable walking around the neighborhood.

I live on that block and I love it. I lived by myself for years and never felt unsafe.

I lived on League between 9th and 10th for a few years, Loved it up there... you might even be better off, not right on the Italian market like I was... if thats the block I'm thinking of, it's a really nice block, and the area is pretty good... you got 3 bars within a block of you too! The Royal, The Dive, and the friendly.... each on a little differant than the next... so I'd say go for it!
