Default Has Zot lost their minds?

The food has gone down hill. The place reeked of cigarette smoke the other night. A dog came out of the kitchen. Now, zot has made the brilliant marketing decision to paint their windows opaque black? WTF?!?! Are they trying to fail or are the rumors true that it is slowly becoming an after hours hangout?

I went once and wasn't all that impressed. Really mediocre frites for a place that is supposed to be all about mussels and frites. And I was asked if I would mind eating in the bar despite plenty of open tables in the back, all because I was dining solo. All told, it did not make want to rush back with my wife when she got back in town.

They are all related. That dog was the new chef heading out for a smoke break. Duh?

We ate there with friends a few weeks ago and it was a disaster, the servers were friendly but everything else was a downer.

They have been a nightmare since day 1 for those of us who live nearby. They throw trash out on the street and leave it for days. They PARK their cars blocking Naudain street for hours. They have a DOG IN THE KITCHEN. Yes, a dog...in the kitchen...where they make food for YOU to eat. That dog has been present since day one. We addressed the issue with them when they came before the SSHD and they seemingly don't care. Hey, at least you don't have to worry about the chef touching dog crap since he doesn't actually clean up when it craps in the street or on the sidewalks.

I also hear there is smoking on the 2nd floor (just a rumor - I haven't witnessed it). I think they are doing un-permitted renovations upstairs (I see work - I don't see permits)....The list goes on. I have NEVER eaten there. I will NEVER eat there.

I have neighbors who have threatened to take out full page newspaper ads calling them out on their disgusting and illegal behavior. I am trying to catch the dog in the kitchen so I can snap a photo for the health department.

I ate there when it first opened. The staff placed on the table what looked to me like an appetizer and I was still waiting for dinner to arrive when the other people I was with let me know that was it. In short, not a place to eat, just snack and drink and I've never been back. Maybe I'm just not sophisticated enough?

I believe my neighbors have reported them....but the problem is that most of the time the dog is there at night.....by the time an inspector comes out the dog isn't going to be there anymore. That's why I want a picture.

sorry to hear you've all had bad experiences at ZOT. i ate there for the 1st time last month and actually enjoyed it very much. granted, it is an unusual menu, but the mussels were delicious as were the frites.

it is disturbing to learn they allow a dog to roam free in the kitchen ...

I like it there fine. I rarely eat as the menu is mostly meat but the beer selection is great and it's a great place to relax and have a good beer in the neighborhood. It's also a lot classier than any bars I personally have been to in Belgium, where like Alaska the odds are good but the goods are odd. What they need is mannekin pis' lesser known sister above the bar and to play skinemax all night not just after 1am then we will have a situation worth talking about.
