Queen Villager,
You plainly have no idea what you are talking about. The lady who owns passional actually turned her main store into strictly a clothing store with an art gallery above, and the "annex" that you cite has "toys" as well as adult classes such as massage, etc.-maybe you should take one to get the stick out. What do you call a neighborhood that has these types of businesses? Unique, which is why your desired businesses like Ansilll and Gayle move in. Here's a hint for you-they didn't move in because of the stodgy neighbors, as the ones who get squeamish over a vibrat$r tend not to be adventurous in food choices-which, by the way, you would never even see unless you actually went into Passional and went into the back room-so maybe your a bit more adventurous than I give you credit.

Besides, Hospitalitygirl may now need one since all of the bass thumping has left her now that Eargasm gone

Bainbridge is shaping up to be quite nice. The Pottery shop, a vintage clothing store catty-corner, an art therapist renovated a building down the street, and of course the cabinet store that I wish was turning into a restaurant but the neighbors are too anal to allow a fan on a building that was once a restaurant.

Oh, and the French restaurant is moving along nicely, Nipsey. A new consignment store has also opened on 9th and south across from starbucks. As well as Sprouts preschool and philly kids gym. The new mexican restaurant is quite good as well(6th/south), and the seafood restaurant that took over the old sex club is pretty good-don't eat their Queen Villager, as you may get an image of munching -'er- nevermind.

Oh, the expressive hand also does sign language courses...they're for kids but I'm thinking of asking them to teach me.

I'm just fine, thank you very much!

This is a fun neighborhood!

Maybe I missed the post where Queen Villager said that an adult toy store place was bad but it wasn't here.

No, I think we're seeing a somewhat typical Alesis over-reaction.

For some reason he had to bring up Passional when it had nothing to do with the conversation, and he obviously knows nothing about the business:

Although I try to control my high-end-cabinetry lust, I might have to try this new place.
The fact is there are more home interior businesses in our neighborhood than "sex shops". And if Queen Villager walked around a bit, they'd know that we already have a "high end" cabinet store. Additionally, who associates cabinet shopping as a retail store that must necessarily be within walking distance. Its nice to have, but there is no reason to constrast is with an assumed "sex shop"(actually clothing store) that has been in the area for years.

The only over-reaction is from neighbors who wish to chastise businesses that have been here long before them, and yearn for this neighborhood to be molded towards their boring perspective. Meanwhile, I'd love to see how much these bastions of righteousness have put towards charities, as the owner of Passional has produced events that have netted 100's of thousands for local organizations.

I still don't know where s/he implied anything negative about Passional although perhaps was off on what it was. Hey, even if it was an adult toy store, why is that a negative thing? The ones in Rittenhouse and W. Mount Airy seem to blend in quite well and seem quite upscale from the exterior...

...They don't all have to be like Club Risque's or Condom Kingdom. (Even though I find nothing "wrong" with them either, but I see how you maybe wouldn't want to live right next door to either.)

Then here's an idea. Don't live here. The South Street area's vibrancy is through its diversity. We have condom stores and tattoo shops. Big deal. We also have some of the best rated restaurants in the nation, as well as more home interior stores than any of the above combined! Queen Villager's point is without merit-and if they ever went in they would know that PASSIONAL IS A CLOTHING STORE, not a "sex shop".

Exactly, so why even attempt to denigrate the business? Queen Villager doesn't even know what the business sells, yet wishes to cast aspersions about it. Even if it was a "sex shop", so what? Queen Villager infers that our neighborhood is somehow lessened by having a "sex shop" rather than a "high end cabinetry store"...and guess what? WHO EVEN KNOWS IF ITS GOING TO BE HIGHEND??? There are plenty of home interior places in our neighborhood, and some are not quite known for their quality of materials and installation.

Condom Kingdom has never caused a single problem, period. In fact, it is the most photographed store on all of south street-even my mom who is the most conservative person on earth laughs when she goes by and sees the boob and penis pasta. And shhh, don't tell anyone, but I think my mom had sex before-unless any of you wish to claim that I'm the immaculate conception

Comparing Club Risque to condom kingdom is inappropriate. Condom kingdom is a boutique like Spencer's-esque store while Club Risque is quite another can o' worms.

You may consider these remarks to be innocent, but it is merely a part of a bigger climate where neighbors wish that certain businesses disappear without realizing that our business corridor will never sustain from neighboring patrons, and must maintain its diversity to attract all walks of life. If the passional stores, tattoo shops, piercing shops, vintage clothing stores, etc. go by the wayside-the business climate will simply wither since it will be no different than any strip mall.
