Better than Jim's

But that isn't hard.

I went there.. had to get someone's attention.

Had a very tough steak with a lot of flavor. Roll was stale. Fries excellent.

I guess it's just bad timing.

Sorry to take this thread OT. Visit SOS!

I ran into Nutter at the South Philly taproom right before the election, he was having dinner, and really nice, during a really exciting Phillies game actually, and he was getting into the game with the rest of the crowd. I was slightly buzzed, and told him to hurry up and get in office, to which he replied "I'd love to, but they do have that whole election thing I need to do first" lol... ahh, good thing I wasn't a little more then "buzzed" who knows what stupidness would come out! Ha ha... also, I've gone to SOS a few times- when it first opened, and didn't like it so much... went back a few times in the past 6 months, and it was a little better... a little pricey for a newer steak shop I thought. Then again, according to these posts, I must be one of the only South Philly raised resident that actually likes Jims... much much better then Genos, pats or the very highly overated Tony Lukes.

Hey, if Lorenzo's can continue to get away with being such a s#$#hole surviving off the crunch of late-night drunkards, Steaks on South can survive. At least SOS is clean.

The back room at Lorenzo's is one of those places that alters the lives of those that eat there, forever.

Ahh, those good, old days of living in Queen Village. I miss living above the bird crap covered pavement of Fleishman's Fabrics and graffiti-marred windows of Night Owl.

I got a cheesesteak here just to compare. It was bigger than the ones at Jims (is it just me or have they shrunk over the years?) and pretty tasty. The rolls were a bit softer than I like but that's personal preference. Cost me $10 with a soda. There was no line at all, at maybe 6 on a Saturday.

Started working on South Street a couple of months back, so have been trying various places for food.

I went to SOS just the once. The cheesesteak was the most horrible thing I've ever tried to eat. The steak was tough and just came out in one large chunk and was absolutely saturated in grease. I ate less than half. Shame, I don't want to wait in line at Jim's which I've tried once and loved.

Anyway, I'm on a health kick and am eating Jared's at Subway for now.

Nope, just the 2 mentioned, plus a couple in Fairmount, both up here were decent, but nothing special. Better than SOS though.

Anyone here eaten there before?
I've wondered the exact same thing about the Pink Rose Pastry shop.
