Unfortunately, due to many professional relationships through the years I tend to get cheaper than normal bar tabs which makes it hard for me to compare. Its pretty simple though-where there's more atmosphere, there's more expensive drinks. For those who enjoy swill-which I'm not always adverse to, there's often Pabst Blue Ribbon specials at Manny's, Moms, Cheers, and Maaco's(which I would not recommend for the faint of heart). The Stella award goes to Cheers and Manny's(although Manny's is a bit flatter), and of course the all time fresh beer award goes to Oneils. You just can't beat a draft from that place, and the price difference is barely noticeable. Best original concept goes to Bridget Foys who worked with Yards to create a most amazing beer called Turbo Ale. My latest favorite has been Coquette who has some great french beers during happy hour cheaper than most places sell their pabst! From 10pm-midnight you get 1/2 price beers and the best oysters around for $5/doz.

Speaking of SOS, my friend and I bought an SOS steak and a Steve's Steak, split them, and found both to be equally delicious with a slight edge towards SOS for their cheese and Steve's for their roll. Next week we're going to try the test again-but his wife is ticked at him for raising a pants size.

We really like SOS - their veggie steak sandwich with provolone, roasted red peppers and fried onions (I get it without broccoli rabe) is delicious. My partner gets regular steak sandwich hoagie and has never had a complaint.

I walked by last night around 3 and SOS seemed busier than lorenzo's. Hopefully the trend will continue for Patrick.

Yes, I am the owner of SOS. Yes, I sold the Dodger about eight years ago.

Thanks for the heads up with the pretend b-ball last night.
the ultimate problem with your place is it takes way way too long to get your food...Last time I was there, I skipped a long line at Jims to come to your place because only 3 people were in line. It took 25 minutes for me to get my cheesesteak and cheese fries. Its a decent cheesesteak, but your system is inefficient. I'm not sure if you're having trouble getting good help, but the guys behind the counter were having serious trouble completing simple orders for the people ahead of me.

Not trying to knock you dude...its a good cheesesteak, but I think you could work on the efficiency of your staff.

Plus get rid of the batter dipped Pats N Genos style fries. If you did a fresh cut fry and advertised it...you'd get a lot more french fry business off the streets.

They can get a little greezy with the fries at Maoz but they are rather good when they are not. They are thick cut .... belgian fries, maybe?

The best though is the garlic sauce.

Maoz aren't fresh cut, but they are pretty good when they are right out of the fryer.
