We ate here Saturday night. This is a neighborhood place, the cook used to work at the New I believe. I ate here once before a couple months ago, at the bar, and liked it but had never made it back. I walk the dog by here everynight and I always look in the kitchen when the door is open and watch until the dog gets bored.

The rear dining area is pretty comfortable and relatively cramped but private. I had the Special seafood lasagna which was a massive flavorful ricotta bomb that I finished this morning for breakfast. My wife had the penne alla vodka which is on the menu and said the sauce was better than other places in the area she's tried...I won't name names.

One thing that impressed me was that they offered wine by the glass and two of the wines were wines we had bought at the state store that were a great value for the money. It's a nice touch and I think it shows that they want to serve good food at a good price. We are definitely adding this to our rotation between Southwark and the dark horse and the new.

Any one been to Ava or Next or the place that took over Las Cazuelas, la terra nuestra?

I've been to Ava and it is OK. Not unbelievalble but a good solid BYOB. They make all of their own pasta and some times that is hit or miss.

I just went to La Terra Nostra last weekend and definitely like the food a lot. Hell I only live a block away so I had to go! The sauce for the chicken marsala was awesome and the veal ravioli dish was great. They had a special zupe de pesce apetizer which was well worth the price although the clams were a little small.

Bistro Romano is our neighborhood number 1 spot...

Cool. They finally put a menu up in the window...sort of a requirement around here. I will have to give it a try during happy hour. I think they have 1/2 price apps then.

My wife and I really like Next. We have been to a Sunday brunch the OJ pitcher was a little pricey at like $10 or $12 but we brought our own champagne. They had some novel dishes.

Dinner was really good, and fair for the price I think. I had a rib-eye steak with wasbi butter, yum. It's been a little while since we were there. We keep meaning to go on a Wednesday for their Vegitarian price fixe.
