before you fax the letter, I should clarify that I'm not certain this is the property owner. The lot is owned by a G and W in Miami and this is a place called G and W in Miami. However, the addresses are different. It's probably good to verify their ownership before sending threatening letters. Of course, once the ownership is verified, fax away.

EastChestnut Presents: iPhone Photography Expedition!
Processing done by: DigiKam for Linux Apparently things have gotten worse at 13th and South. If you look here, you can see that the rooftops of all 3 abandoned structures were more or less half-way intact: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...&t=h&z=20&om=1 Now, all three buildings on the Kater street side have partially or total disappearances of their roofs, and in the case of the 3rd building next to the owner-occupied home, the entire building has collapsed and only the walls remain! On my way home, this is what greeted me as I decided to cross town a few blocks along South Street: ![]() And then, if you look carefully, you can see a worn path where vagrants go through the human-sized hole in the fence to get into the dilapidated buildings (there are 3 of them): ![]() Vagrants have tried to build a "fort" of trash to make it more difficult for other vagrants to enter. However, homeless vagrants are mentally unstable, so it's doubtful this little fortification actually works. Besides, there is another way to get into the property behind the structure, I'll show you that here: ![]() Behind the building is a very soaked piece of plywood trying to cover up the curbside entrance to what was formerly the cellar of the building. There appears to have been police barricades here, but they have been destroyed and their remnants are scattered about everywhere. One fat kid jumping up and down on this piece of wet plywood and he's a goner. I was able to lift up the board with my shoe and stared into an empty black crevasse. ![]() It appears that some neighbors have tried to secure one of the doors leading into part of the surviving structure where it's the most habitable (shelter from rain). Behind this door and to the east (to the right) is a part of one of the collapsed buildings which has nothing more than its retaining walls still standing. ![]() This is inside the collapsed building in the back. To the right of this open hole is an owner-occupied home, with its brick structural walls exposed to the elements. If I was living next door to this, I would make sure to put some lawyers on retainer to sue the investor! ![]() ![]() This is one of the more bleaker pictures. This is the back side of the collapsed structure fascia walls along Kater Street. From the inside, there doesn't appear to be any bracing preventing the wall from collapsing. A good windstorm is probably all it will take to cause a further collapse. This structure is in danger of further collapse. It would be wise not to walk near the walls when going down Kater Street. ![]() I am surprised and shocked there is an intact AC unit still attached to a window. You'd think it would have been stolen by now. ![]() Here's a better view of the police barricades. Remember folks, chronic homeless people are usually loony-tunes. Putting up signs doesn't deter vagrancy. In fact, a KEEP OUT and a DANGER--IMINENENT COLLAPSE sign from the city is another way of saying "Welcome! Come On Inn!" Applause goes to whoever got the cops from the ministation to put the easels there, but you can see from the plywood cover, the vagrants use this to access the building. ![]() A little piece of history... it appears at one time, this place was a neighborhood bar.... ![]() Are you done with that soda? Here's a perfect place to put it: ![]() Alas, a David OH sign on the 13th Street side. Makes me sorta sad he didn't make it to City Council to help us with this blight IN FRANK DICICCO'S DISTRICT. ![]() ![]() Here's a better look at the "Trash Fort" to keep those pesky vagrants out. ![]() ![]() And of course, neighbors living near the site have a perfect place to dump unwanted stuff now that nobody is using the lot: ![]() And this loveliness is within a few feet of the new 1352 Lofts. What a steal!
