The city was charged $150 for the search." This is a true statement, but the delay was based on the standard protocols of the PPD investigation. They didn't assign someone to the case until the morning of the 15th, according to Bill Whiting who gets this information from the PPD itself. Bykofsky then states "In Edna's case, the detective says, he must now get another search warrant to connect the phone numbers he has to subscribers. He couldn't say what the charge would be or how long it would take." What he fails to state is that this information requested is for a completely different set of circumstances. The PPD stated to Bill Whiting this morning that they have the information they requested and they received it quickly once they gave final approval to Verizon. Community activists acted on the statements in the article and tried to quickly organize a rally. The primary purpose of the rally was to get Verizon to release the necessary information immediately. Obviously, that is unnecessary. I'm proud to be part of a group of people that are so willing to move quickly to try to effect positive change in our community. We started acting without having the facts clearly stated to us because it was after business hours on a Thursday evening. Had we waited until Friday morning, the protest could not have occurred until Monday at the earliest. These are the chances we take to try to improve our community. They are also the responsibilities we must address when we are wrong, as we were in this case. It takes an incident like this to show the true nature of some.
Everyone was ready to jump down big bad verizon's fault for being a dog killer. When I said it wasn't verizon's fault I was called a "contrarian". Now, only after people try to make verizon look bad its shown that they really had nothing to do with the delay. The other extreme wishes to pat themselves on the back by calling themselve's "rich white people" in made up pantomime. Do you think the kid's(if they were even kids)looked at the dog and said hey, that's a caucasian canine, get 'em!!! The victim, while in an absolute panic, recounts the callers had an "american ghetto slang". Work in retail for one summer and you'll learn that asians, vietnamese, whites, blacks, mexicans, nigerians(who do not like "rich white people" calling them african americans), cambodians, and hiphop partridges in a peartree are all capable of such sland and rhetoric. As stated in other extreme threads-I have two black neighbors next to me who are doctors. Another who is a business owner. They own dogs. Do you think if the purported dognappers with "american ghetto slang" stole my neighbors' dog they'd say, "oh I'm sorry mr. african american, I'll give you back your dog and go kidnap a white dog"? Some of you are as misaligned as the dog thieves. And Nick Cave is the best lyricist in all of puppetland.

When we find out the true facts (48 hours vs. 12 days, i.e. reasonable vs. ridiculous,) you say, essentially, "I told you so." Do you see the error in reasoning? Is it possible that you were wrong about the reasonable timeframe for a search?
