This has taught me to pray that there's a statute of limitations on prank phone calls. Otherwise, my hometown K-mart is going to send me up the river for life. I promise that I will never call big box stores asking for Quan Fuxanono because she is my shoplifting mommy and I just became a woman.

Victor Rodriquez - the 15-year-old who made a threatening midnight phone call to the owner of a little brown dog named Edna - was sentenced yesterday to a juvenile treatment facility in western Pennsylvania.

How long he stays there will depend on his rehabilitation. Edna's owner, Bill Whiting, said after the sentencing by Family Court Judge Robert Rebstock: "There's been some justice here."

The simple fact is that after everyone did everything from calling this kid an animal(and worse) to demeaning him for his appearance, all he did was make a prank call.

If there is any part of society that exhibits hatred or discord, it can certainly be found phillyblog before any news story.

I haven't been following this all along but unless we have the kids who did grab Edna and it isn't this kid, all we know is what the DA was willing to charge and felt confident as able to prove beyond a reasonable doubt.

OJ didn't do it either.

I certainly respect that not everyone can follow the nuances of a story, but this thread and associated articles have been a bit misleading.

Witnesses for the prosecution fully admitted that the kid saw a flyer on his way from school, yanked of off a pole, and said he was going to make prank call. He's got as much to do with edna's disappearance as you or I.
