Elias: thank you. At this point, is it generally assumed, to Whiting and his circle, that the kid really harmed Edna or he simply just made a prank phone call?

The 15-year-old, a lanky teen with a neck tattoo, entered and left Judge Robert Rebstock's courtroom with his hands cuffed behind his back, escorted by a sheriff's deputy.
During Rodriquez's trial, the judge heard testimony from Edna's owner, Bill Whiting, and from a teenager who knows Rodriquez.
The judge found Rodriquez guilty of four misdemeanor charges: theft by extortion, conspiracy, terroristic threats and harassment/stalking.

I still wonder why this terrible thing was done to Mr. Whiting and his dog Edna. Maybe it was revealed but not mentioned in the Daily News article.

Rodriguez is starting off on the right foot. Not only is he guilty of the counts listed above, but he also stole a car and didn't go to school. Great job mom...you must be so proud of your offspring who will probably move onto human targets in the future and be a regular tenant in prison.

I am still unclear about one thing. Did this 15-yr-old ever actually have Edna at any time? If I recall correctly, the phone number that he used to call Mr. Whiting wouldn't have been known to anyone UNLESS they actually had the dog--or could it have been that he just had the dog's TAG without actually having the dog? Mr. Whiting said that he heard a dog being hurt during the phone call.

I'm confident that that's a question the ADA will ensure the defendant is haunted by at trial (if it even get's that far).

Yesterday's article (http://www.philly.com/dailynews/loca..._4_counts.html) says the first call, which came from this kid's aunt's house, where this kid lived, was to Whiting's cell phone. That was the # on the lost dog fliers he posted. The second call was to his land line, which would have come from the dog's collar. But it's not clear the two calls were from the same person or people. Whiting said the second call came from a different voice. And it didn't come from the same number (apparently it came from an untraceable disposable cell phone). He put up so many fliers that I think it's entirely possible the two calls were totally unrelated, at least that's why I assume this kid was given the benefit of the doubt when his charges were reduced.

Lolly, thanks for the explanation. I understand better now. I am still hoping against hope that maybe Edna is still alive somewhere with someone who has taken her in. Having and loving a dog myself, I don't even want to imagine the pain Mr. Whiting is going through, first that his dog went missing and second not to know what happened to her.

Default Calling all animal welfare advocates for Monday, March 31st!

Peaceful presence needed for Victor Rodriguez sentencing- supporters of Edna and Bill Whiting are requested!

On March 10th Victor Rodriguez was found guilty of numerous charges -- but the question still remains - WHERE IS EDNA?

His sentencing will be held Monday, March 31st at Family Court. The address is 1801 Vine Street, Philadelphia, PA.

Supporters are welcome to participate in a peaceful presence outside 1801 Vine Street, where protest signs will be made available. If you are able to attend, please arrive at 8:30 AM on March 31st to show your support.

The presence of supporters may influence the judge's final ruling. We still do not know where Edna is or what happened to her - and it is very important that the judge and media recognize that there are still many people following the story and coming out to support Edna and Bill Whiting.

We need answers. Help us show the community that we aren't going away. Help us to help Edna.

What you can do
Attend if you can and PLEASE spread the word to your animal loving family, friends, and rescue associates! We DESPERATELY need people come out and support Bill and Edna!

If you are unable to attend, but would like to send letters to the Judge, please write polite letters expressing your opinion to:

Judge Robert Rebstock presided over the Rodriquez trial and under the Hon. Kevin M. Dougherty, (Administrative Judge Family Court Division).

Letters should be sent 'cc' to both judges at:
Family Court Building, 1801 Vine Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103

Contact information
PLEASE, if you are able to attend on Monday 31st, please contact billandedna@hotmail.com.

Click here, here, and here for more information.

Mr. Whiting said the suspect looked like a kid but without a light in his eyes - they looked vacant. This is a growing problem - I read "Vaccination, Social Violence and Criminality" (I also studied vaccines for 11 years before writing a book - but this info is heavily suppressed) Vaccines DO cause autism, but in Harris Coulter's above mentioned book, he discusses undiagnosed autism, which causes, among other things, a lack of conscience due to brain damage. I wouldn't make excuses though, for what the kid did. I just think that the guilt of people goes to much deeper levels, and there are more people involved than we know, and they are getting RICH from THEIR criminal behavior - I learned this from being in the antivivisection movement. Good things don't grow out of evil deeds.

Thank you WebMD.

Default Sentencing of teen in dog-extortion case is delayed

The sentencing of a 15-year-old boy convicted of making a threatening midnight phone call to the owner of a beloved dog named Edna, and of trying to extort money from the owner, was delayed yesterday because probation officials need more time to find a suitable juvenile-placement facility for him.
