Elias: thank you. At this point, is it generally assumed, to Whiting and his circle, that the kid really harmed Edna or he simply just made a prank phone call?

Rodriguez is starting off on the right foot. Not only is he guilty of the counts listed above, but he also stole a car and didn't go to school. Great job mom...you must be so proud of your offspring who will probably move onto human targets in the future and be a regular tenant in prison. |

I am still unclear about one thing. Did this 15-yr-old ever actually have Edna at any time? If I recall correctly, the phone number that he used to call Mr. Whiting wouldn't have been known to anyone UNLESS they actually had the dog--or could it have been that he just had the dog's TAG without actually having the dog? Mr. Whiting said that he heard a dog being hurt during the phone call.

Lolly, thanks for the explanation. I understand better now. I am still hoping against hope that maybe Edna is still alive somewhere with someone who has taken her in. Having and loving a dog myself, I don't even want to imagine the pain Mr. Whiting is going through, first that his dog went missing and second not to know what happened to her.

The sentencing of a 15-year-old boy convicted of making a threatening midnight phone call to the owner of a beloved dog named Edna, and of trying to extort money from the owner, was delayed yesterday because probation officials need more time to find a suitable juvenile-placement facility for him.
