This sickens me. Unbelievable. It's simply murder. Today, a dog, tomorrow, a child, an adult...guaranteed. These boys need firm punishment and so do their parent(s)!!!!
I am so, so sorry, for Bill and Edna. So sorry. (Buca is the name of my own sweet dog, who passed away at the age of 14 last easter) |

I think that right now we need to not nit pick the Verizon thing as much as we, as a neighborhood, need to do something to ensure this NEVER happens again and that they are caught. Throughout the day, I have wished and wished that I could erase this horrible story from my head. I honestly can't stop crying. I was at the dog park today and Edna's photo was still up. I am both appauled and frightened that this happened so close to where I live. Not only do those monsters need to be put away for a very very long time, but the parent(s) or guardians should be held accountable since they were under age.
My dog sitter also ran into the guy and spoke with him. She said she is going to post the article around the neighborhood to make more people aware. Does anyone know if any of the news stations ran this story? If not, they should. I'm convinced these kids will continue and I can't imagine how much worse it could get. Everyone of us that has pets and even children in the neighborhood need to be ware and the savages need to be caught and severely punished. Our justice system is far too lenient when it comes to cruelty to animals. It's murder either way you put it. Today's dog is tomorrow's human. |

The criminals told the guy that he should meet them at midnight with cash at some location of their choice and that they wanted to kill his dog. When he said more money tomorrow but not midnight, they hung up and apparently did kill the dog. They then called back at a another time just to tell the guy they killed his dog. If anyone doubts that the criminals' actual plan from the start was to kill the dog and the guy, they're not paying attention.

This is bringing flashbacks to when I lost my much-beloved black cat, Sapphire, in 1993....I never found her, but I did get one call from the flyers I pasted everywhere, and it was teenagers who said (I will never forget their words), "yeah, we got your cat....in a body bag!" Police told me they were probably just being cruel, and did not have Sapphire...but I have NEVER forgotten those words. Oh I wish I could do something to help this poor man! he is going to remember that horrible sound of his sweet dog being tortured, for the rest of his life!! |

It never would have occurred to me before but it would seem from now on it would be better not to list a reward amount on a lost dog flyer. Might also have to keep track of a dog as one would a young child. Maybe even train the dog to deal with strangers "appropriately." Scarey.

I hope those ****ing bastards die a really horrible death somehow...nothing is too terrible for them.
And as anti-abortion as I usually am, those are two that should have gotten flushed down the vacuum aspiration tube! To hell with "treatment" and "jail"...they don't deserve to live another day. And I don't give a **** what anyone thinks of me for saying that either. I know the sheer agony and torture of knowing or thinking your beloved pet is being hurt or was hurt, and you can't do anything about it! I'm sorry, I'm sorry...I'm just really losing it right now! I agree with you wholeheartedly, lat. Unfortunately, as soon as its determined that the callers were minors, its an impossible battle.
The detectives are going to need the parents cooperation just to talk to the kids. Then they have to determine who the kids are. The parents will get a lawyer, the kids won't talk, and if your lucky the kid residing at the phone number will get charged with terroristic threats which he'll do a.r.d. And it'll be off his record at 18. Thats if were lucky.

I just found this article at the SP Review website...it has a lot more info about the situation:
http://www.southphillyreview.com/vie...hlight=whiting He had adopted Edna from the same shelter I used to work for...and the same one where I got my cat Sapphire back in 1985. BTW one contact he'd gotten was from someone who claimed the dog was taken out of the country. This is a common scam perpetrated agianst owners of lost pets. Winston (on Phillyblog) recently lost his cat (since found!), and with all the other warnings I gave him, I was going to give him that one too, but was afraid I'd sound too "out there". I didn't know at the time that Edna's owner had already had an attempted victimization using that same scam. |
