Default Steak and Ale?

I saw a liquor license application posted on the cow print building across from Beau Monde for "Steak & Ale". Is this serious? I thought they stopped franchising Steak and Ales in 1982. Maybe a Ponderosa Steakhouse can open where the Mcdonalds used to be to fill out the niche.

Saw that too. It's the building with the gigantic dalmatian painted on it that is across from what used to be the Martini Cafe. The "Sold," "Under Agreement," and "For Sale" signs have been going up and down on that building for a long time. I guess someone has finally committed. I didn't take that Steak and Ale reference on there to mean that that is what will be going in there, however, but maybe I was reading it wrong.

EDIT. Speaking of that corner, I'm just dying for someone to snap up the corner fabric warehouse, put in a restaurant or store, and retain the existing (but broken) neon and call it NORGE.

Don't worry all, steak and ale is not moving in-the applicants merely purchased their liquor license from the former steak and ale on roosevelt blvd.

The actual company is la minette llc. The database is currently being upgraded, so I can't do a search for it at the moment.

just realized where we are talking about.
i got some scoop on this a few weeks ago, but for the life of me i can not remember what it was going to be and who the parties were.
as i was drinking at the time, i will try to recreate the situation tonight and see if the memory pops back into my head.
wish me luck

Googling seems to confirm my impression that Steak and Ale is/was in Bucks County. It is unlikely they are moving a license from Bucks into Philly. Besides the legal question of moving a license into a different county (which may now be legal), the economics make it unlikely as Bucks licenses go for more than Philadelphia County licenses. It is more likely the license is being moved from a Philadelphia company who's legal name is Steak and Ale but did business under a different name.

Dalmation/Cow tastes the same. Thanks for the clarification I did not see the company "la minnette", however it is from the "Steak and Ale" chain restaurant who the license is from. Anyone know about what may be at the location?

That's fascinating. From my memory, Steak and Ale appeared to be in Bensalem. Is it's parking lot connected to the Interplex? That's what I recall but I could most likely be wrong.
