Ah, the politically correct statement before attempting to make a point...

Yeah, south street has indeed had some "questionable characters" living on south street-especially the 100 block where you resided. Such greats include the pedophile listed on the Meagan's law website. And Dominic Verdi-who spends more time during the day at Famous Deli than doing his job. And around the corner another fine neighbor got raided by the feds last month. And around the other corner is one of philadelphia's largest slumlords..I agree, questionable characters.
Panhandlers exist in every nook of this city, and any place in america where people congregate, so your point is without merit.
Potholes, cracks in the sidewalk? Yep, every part of philadelphia-even city hall.

The whole city changed from 25 and even 10 years ago. And what about old city? We have more 3bells restaurants than them, yet I don't know too many QV neighbors who would want old city's proportion of jersey drunk-drivers coming through their neighborhood. And where's this supposed improvement of old city? Are you talking about the crumbling side streets, the boardedup buildings, or the retail businesses that have a problem lasting a year? Oh, you must be talking about that great glam sign tacked onto a building that looks like its going to fall down any day now...classy, classy.

I don’t see owners at Independence Court going to Jim’s for a Cheesesteak and over to City Blue to pick up some clothes.

Gee, that's funny-you might want to tell me, governor rendell, and one of the owners of Jim's since we ate jim's cheesesteaks together during the ribbon cutting ceremony AT INDEPENDENCE COURT...
and Abner Levy, an owner of jim's Steaks, lives in the same area-so your point is a bit debunked. My house is worth more than those tinderboxes-meanwhile I am currently in a pair of nikes I bought from total sport, and have two pairs of sketchers I purchased from-follow the bouncing ball====>city blue.

Here we go with "new" b.s. again...while you wish to pride yourself on some "new" type of neighborhood you seem to be forgetting that myself, southstman, hospitalitygirl also live here. So does the owner of Bridget Foys, Bistro Romano, Jims' steaks, body graphics tattoo, millennium tattoo, mineralistic, eyes gallery, and many more 'old south street' stores. We patronize and appreciate both the new and old-the only people who don't seem to get that are the one's who keep throwing this "new" monicker around.

And I heard that the middle of a 12" ruler is 6 inches. WTF? Resolution does not come from extremes-it comes from common sense individuals that enjoy and appreciate all aspects of our community, not those who wish to use a silver tongue to screw the other side over.

ONCE AGAIN, FOR THE LAST TIME(eh, probably not)...
I am not lambasting anyone for their opinion. I am saying that their writings are erroneous and without merit. You can say you like hamburger while I enjoy a boca burger-either way, its a matter of one's taste and therefore undebatable-but when people state opinion as fact I tend to get a bit disjointed.
