Like DBSCU and many others, I currently live in Queen’s Village and I used to live on the 100 block of South Street for three (3) years (circa 2002-2005). The Street is full of character and life...and so are the people who visit.

It also happens to be plagued by potholes, cracks in cement which is borderline unsafe for pedestrians. In addition, let us not forget, some of the Street’s inhabitants are of questionable character (when was the last time a certain panhandler outside of WaWa told you about his million dollar settlement but needed a couple of bucks until he gets a check?)

Lighting, new sidewalk, a fresh paved street is just what the doctor ordered.

The “South Street purists” have to embrace change as no area stays the same forever. Does anyone remember what Old City looked like 25 years ago? Change was good there, it could be good on South Street too.

Vintage South Street is essentially misplaced as it is now book ended by Million Dollar properties. I don’t see owners at Independence Court going to Jim’s for a Cheesesteak and over to City Blue to pick up some clothes. The new South Street has to respect its roots as it changes. With the real estate pricing as it is, I find this to be a difficult task, but obtainable with City assistance.

There has to be a happy middle ground between the two views. This can only be accomplished by views of people from the extreme right and extreme left. Nobody should be lambasted for having an opinion, as nothing productive comes from such behavior.

I for one embrace the improvements, if they ever happen, and am anxious to see the continued evolution of South Street.

FYI: I know what a DBSCU is!

Thank you Mr. Real Estate guy posing as just a resident!

Thanks ASG.

... thanks for the kind words, but I will stay out of politics for the time being.

I respect all on this board, you all have insightful things to contribute and each idea sheds light on what the general South Street public desires.

ASG really should be the one working in Real Estate not the rest of us.

Zur:

I am flattered that you think of me as a real estate guy as I have zero real estate background.

Thank you for your kind words.

One and the same person? Noooo, perish the thought, even if the style of writing is oh so similar.

Maybe it is because we have similar educations. Although I went to a better undergraduate program, we did end up at same law school together. Maybe that could explain the similar writing styles.

If you would look at the IP address, you would know that we are not the same person. I work in the City and DBSCU works in a neighboring County.

If they aren't the same person then they should go on a date.

I'm glad they are attempting to fix the streetscape.

But it will only fix the streetscape...not "upscale" the place.

Camden has great sidewalks...nicest intersections in the area with trees and trashcans, etc..

hmmm...
then why would DBSCU think of you as a real estate guy even though you he knows you from law school and knows where you work (in the City) and that you have zero real estate background.

We know each other in all seriousness, but were not the same. In fact we have quite different political views.

One thing is certain, we both want the same for the area.

And that is what is best for our city!

I would have no reason to have 2 screen names.

I actually told ASG to read this thread because it made me laugh at all the bickering over something we both care about very much.
