i have to say (in case no one else did) - file this under Lemon/Lemonade:

I caught the handwritten sign outside Blarney on South Street - stuck into the top of a 4+ foot-tall pile of sand that said something along the lines of "BEACH PARTY SPECIAL!" and offering drink specials etc...

Are the contractors *allowed* to start jackhammering the sidewalks (right under my windows! ) before 7AM?

Words cannot express how much I loathe ginkgo trees. Sure, they aren't ugly to look at, but once they start bearing fruit, those things have got to GO. And I hate when they get sneaky and switch genders. IN ORDER TO BEAR FRUIT.

Yes, they will NOT be Ginkos. There will be a variety of trees planted. And for the tree-huggers out there....I believe that a total of 80 trees will be planted (5 per side of each block front to 8th). For all the people who are appalled by the fact that several tress were removed....thats about 75 more than were there before.

Are they really going to be saplings? Someone nearly uprooted a sapling in front of wawa last weekend so I hope the trees on south street are somewhat impervious to molestation. Last year we had two saplings put in front of our building and sure enough someone chained their bike to one and then also sure enough someone hacked the tree down and stole the bike.

I've seen nearly full grown trees planted in other cities but I imagine it's a small fortune.
