Ha! Brilliant! Brazilian wax job. They probably can't plant new trees until they've repaved the street, then redo the sidewalks. They have to tear the sidewalks up and saplings won't be able to stand up to that work. Oooh, that reminds me...new saplings at some point. They will need to be protected from the urchins, the same ones that feel the need to "autograph" wet cement.

Taser duty anyone?

I'm thinking there is no way they can put saplings in. They have to be fairly full grown trees, or at least I hope so. That will be a fairly expensive operation but if they can put full grown palm trees in in Florida we can put full grown London plane trees in on south street. They say 10 trees per block for 9 blocks.

They are supposed to start the sidewalks March 24th on the South side of the 100blk. They will work their way up the street 1 block at a time along the south side. When they get to 8th they turn around and work their way back up the north side. They are supposed to take about 2 weeks per side of each block. So, by my math they should be working on the south side of the 200 blk starting around April 7th.

so - if the trees aren't old/wide enough, i guess all the used gum will just go onto the nice new sidewalks instead ... pehaps they should leave the one stump in front of Ishkabibble's - as a memorial ... I did notice this morning how that tree wasn't chopped to the stump like the rest... makes you wonder, eh ?!

Default Trees

I understand the trees are not young saplings, rather 6-8' high young trees with a 3 inch diameter trunk, with a better likelihood of survival. Three different species, including male ginkos ... not the smelly, fruit-producing female variety.

They better hope those male ginkos don't get stressed by drought or such and switch sexes, because there is nothing worse than the stank from those ginko seed pods.

If they're mature enough, it probably won't happen, but I've had experience before with...um, "trees" switching from male to female if stressed enough. Of course, that was intentional and the results decidedly more enjoyable...

Gee, do you mean if they are in a dense commercial environment outside of concerthalls and steak joints where everyone puts bubblegum onto them? Let the transgendering begin.
