yeah South Street is South Street. If you want it to be Georgetown, go to Georgetown.

Or make Georgetown in another part of Philly(Hey Northern Liberties is open to it...NOT....Try next door tho, the Spring Garden Section would be a hot bar scene.)

And I'm sure South Street been around longer then Georgetown.

Yep. Bridget Foy's is just a hell hole. Along with Miami Cafe. And Southwark is just a dive. Oh, and coquette is just wretched. And Ansill is just sooooo lowclass. And beau monde is for peasants. And Pietro's, how could anyone eat let alone drink in there. Wow, and tori's-yeah, that shower curtain door is so shabby chique.

Obviously you haven't been in any bar besides Cheers in quite sometime-and they just got new owners so the shower curtains may be gone by now.

I wish we had some nicer bars on South St. With clean, operational bathrooms. That is my biggest complaint about South St bars. A shower curtain doubling as a bathroom door doesn't cut it. Oh, and toilet seats aren't OPTIONAL.

I've been up about 24hrs. working on a new business...I'm a bit antsy...oh, and I got some vodka in me. Damn sins of the soul.

I was absolutely against the tori's transfer from front street since they were a very well known after hours spot. They have cleaned up their act, have great food, and an amazing bar. Actually, two amazing bars.

Yeah, their food has always been good. I might have go tonight. They still have most of their old signature dishes, and if you don't see something just ask and they'll make it for you.

As far as disagreeing with Alesis-
There is no opinion in what the person said; in fact, its just another generalized dismissal of South Street when they obviously haven't actually been in any of the bars(except for possibly Cheers if they're a girl).

A generalized lie is not opinion. Here's the quote:

I wish we had some nicer bars on South St. With clean, operational bathrooms. That is my biggest complaint about South St bars. A shower curtain doubling as a bathroom door doesn't cut it. Oh, and toilet seats aren't OPTIONAL.

Let's start from the top. I'll even assume that the comment was made in complete ignorance to the fact that there are several 3 bell bars/restaurants just off of south that are anything but downtrodden. Staying just on South-a synopsis of toilets on South Street:

Tattooed Mom's-Doors, seats, always operational. Very clean with well attended tile.
Manny's-Doors, seats, operational, small, but recently rennovated(as in 3 or 4 years ago)
Cheers-Door, women's has shower curtains in the stalls due to the small size, almost always operational, seats
Miami Cafe-nice, operational, seats, doors, all newly renovated
Fat Tuesdays-always operational, seats, doors
Lickety Split-always operational, seat, door
Copa-Operational, small, seat, door
Blarney-always well attended, door, seat
Makos-recently rehabbed. No door-you have to walk around a corner so no one can see in), seats
Jon's-well attended, operational, seats, door
Bridget Foys-Well maintained, operational, door, seat
Paddywhacamole-Brand new/still looks brand new/still acts brand new
Tori's-mostly new, doors, seats, yada yada
Downey's-the oldest, yet always operational, seats, doors, yada yada yada yada yada yada
What's my point? THEY ARE MAKING SH*T UP!!!!

Under pretense of the comment, I highly doubt they ever dared to go into Maako's. That leaves a single bar for them to complain about, and the shower curtains are only in the ladies' side because of space issues-and yes, they have seats.

Obviously they've never relieved themselves in the likes of beau monde, southwark, coquette, ansill, irish times, xochitl, and the vast majority of south street area bars which are upscale-just like that pathetic as-hole attracting Georgetown-which, btw, has one of the greatest sh*thole punk stores ever conceived, let alone a myriad of scumbag wannabes who I've seen f&ck in the oh so swanky bathrooms of the oh so swanky bars of Georgetown-real classy.

A member of Gwar got shot in Georgetown by a carjacker-don't think these people go where DC socialites hang, so spare the Georgetown is oh so classy while south street sucks routine, its so old and immature:

Have no fear Alesis, I have relieved myself in all of those places. I wouldn't consider this a list of "South St bars".

I have been to Maako's PLENTY of times. Enough to know to use the bathroom before I go and to leave before nature calls. Regarding your list, I disagree with some of those comments you are presenting as fact. For example, Manny's has a huge hole in the door, no soap, no paper towels - at least thats the condition it is in whenever I go there, maybe its a coincidence. Doubtful. So maybe these places pass your white glove test, but I consider soap a must for any bathroom. And locking doors on the stalls. I don't think I'm being too picky. You can disagree with me but I did not "lie" about the conditions of some (I would argue most) of the bathrooms. I did generalize, but the funniest thing about you is that you spent A LOT of time factchecking!!!

I agree that MOST of the bars bathrooms are useable... but have to say, Copas tiny bathroom back near the 2nd bar is usually disgusting... as is any of the bathrooms I've used at Makos... the one at Tattooed moms you described must be the downstairs, I've only used the upstairs one and thats pretty bad too. Being a guy, I generally don't care since I don't really have to touch anything... I will admit, the worse one I used down there was upstairs at Malokais... actually the ones downstairs between the bar and the pizza parlor were pretty bad too... but man those upstairs toilets were like the land Mr. Clean forgot! And Cheers is under ANOTHER new owner? Wasn't the daughter of the previous owner running the place for a while?

So the trees on my block have had a serious, and I do mean serious, shave. I suppose that this is in anticipation of the work to come. Where oh where is Alesis to answer the questions that will come up?

Yeah it's a bit shocking the Brazilian wax job they did to south street. I hope they slap some new trees up and fast. They appear to be working fast though.
