I also like Hawthorne Square (not sure I really get a vote since I don't live in the neighborhood...)

Same here. My vote shouldn't count, but I like simple things and the name Hawthorne should really be embedded in that area as much as possible since it tends to get lost in the shuffle.

Hawthorne Park would be great, but I can see some people getting it confused with Hawthorne Recreational Center.

they can call it whatever they want. As long as it doesn't get overrun with dickheads hanging out there to sell drugs and litter, I'm happy.

Correct! the reason we are trying to get away from MLK park or Hawthorne square is bc of the negative stigma these names still carry for our area. We are trying to change that by bringing a fresh new name to this site I really really like Dream Square

One of our neighbors did a bit of research about our area and found much historical info regarding Edward Shippen and his contribution to our area and Philly in general. Is pretty cool

The neighborhood has been called Hawthorne for a long time and probably will be for a long time to come, you're getting a 2 million dollar park (how they can spend $2million in that little area is amazing to me), it will probably be really nice, and it's probably a good idea to try to pull up the reputation of the neighborhood by associating the name of the park with the hood.

I guess I don't get a vote either since I don't live there, but I do only live a block and a half away, so that's got to count for something.

Besides, as a resident of the unnamed G-Ho, SWCC, Annville, area, I think you should be happy to have a good historic name like Hawthorne, and try to improve the reputation of it rather than cast it aside.

Just my two opinion.

But it is right.
